THE SPINNING 0F TIME Day after day, year after year time spins on. This duration of time introduces problems, alterations, and growth of progress. In our school, the students present the problems. For instance, need of space is a major problem presented by our students right now. The taxpayers, the Board of Education and other school authorities decide the proper time to build a new school or alter our present deficient system. The fteachers help to support the growth of progress by preparing the graduates to depart from school and, according to what they have learned, promote progress in the world. In all respects, time spent in activities, such as: athletics, music, honor societies, service clubs, or student life organizations, helps to mold the students into several different types depending upon the activity in which they excel. The student matures in emotion, imagination, action, morals, intellect, and social sense. These activities also strive to teach the participant to possess honor, courage, scholarship, leadership, service, companionship and character. Thus, as time moves on and the student stands on the threshold of gradu- ation, he will be equipped with the necessary qualifications to promote progress as a capable adult should. With time, the individual sometimes becomes tired of the constant monotony of daily school routine and desires to leave school. This is where guidance performs an important role. Through proper guidance we are taught that the world outside of school can produce the same effect because it is more complex. Therefore, with persistence we must rid ourselves of this unpleasant feeling and become determined to develop the powers of skill and knowledge, both necessities. in the world today. We must not be content to permit others to decide our futures for us. We should take advantage of this precious time provided for development of our minds and character in school. And so it is, that we may strive for perfection in ourselves so that we may be satisfied with what we can accomplish. Only time and perseverance can effect this. Throughout this yearbook we have attempted to follow our theme the passing of time representing different portions of our school system. The main objective for this partic- ular theme is to designate what the spinning of time has brought to our community this year, particularly in our passing from the old to the new Lake Shore Central School. CUT 0F THE CLD For the next inn he spurs amain, in haste alights, and scuds away - But time and tide for no man stay. Since the inauguration ot Lake Shore Central High School, tour years ago, time has passed rapidly. The world has changed, student needs have changed, and our school has changed. Now as we prepare to leave we can look back through tour years of pleasant memories to the long hours spent downtown, the long wait tor the late bus, the tun we had in the rather obsolete lab in the back of room 201, and the way everyone quickly stepped out ot the path ot the grade school children who rushed from the high school to the grade school every morning. We shall also recall the long attendance lines and the growth ol the attendance office from a chair, to a desk, and tinally to a small office. With the growth ot enrollment, classrooms began to spread to the annex and to down- town buildings, tour twenty-minute lunch periods were organized instead ot the usual lunch hour because ot the crowded cafeteria, and this year, the Senior class was divided into three homerooms instead ot being united in the traditional Senior homeroom 203. Yes, time has passed quickly, our student body and our taculty have grown. Because of this growth, the passing ot time, and changing needs, we are forced to leave our present school and move to a new and larger one.

With this precious time, and under their superior guidance, vve must do what we can to pay our debt to society by becoming better citizens. Our designers, the Board of Education, collaborate in maintaining and improving our school system. Collectively they endeavor to offer us the mechanism to achieve our goal.
