These courses strive to equip the apprentice with the fundamental principles and details of business practice. In order to develop a certain degree ot skill and speed, the instructors t minute vvorlcersui attempt to conduct classroom activities similar to those in an actual oltice. Awards are given tor outstanding eftorts on the part ot the students. Business is a practical course since it increases the tield ot oppor- tunitios tor employment atter graduation. Typewriting, although a noisy class, is enjoyed by all students taking it. In the picture, the students seem to be taking seriously the one point stressed in this course-keep all eyes on the copy. SPECIAL DEPARTMENTS The hands of a clock are special in that they use them to point out everything the onlooker wants to find out. In the same respect in each of the Special Departments, participants have to use their hands , ln music, hands are essential to play instru- ments, or to lead a band or orchestra. Art affords the use of hands in oil painting, charcoal drawings, makings signs, etc. There are numerous ways an athlete may have his hands assist him. ln almost every sport they play an important role. We could not function properly without the guiding hands of Mr. Firestone, Miss Roop, and Mr. Sawin in the departments of guidance, health, and attendance. In shop the use of all equipment must have the assistance of hands to carry out a job. Home Economics establishes proof, as in shop, of the use of hands , The pictures on this page will show you some of the Hands of our Clock in action. 40
