As any musical organization must have an accompanist so must a school It is the various extra curricular activities at Lake Shore Central that furnish this accompaniment Only by working and learning in one of these organizations can a student know the necessity for co operation If each student contributes to this necessity a school too can function as harmoniously as a musical organization STUDENT COUNCIL Here at Lake Shore Central students try to better their school and themselves through their Student Council This year the Student Council under the expert guidance of Miss Heffernan and the capable leadership of Jack Tyler has tried to solve problems facing the students and faculty By directing the hall monitor system the suggestion box and with hopes for a student court and a student of the month plan the council has tried to add to the general improvement of the school ALPHA SIGMA Alpha Sigma is a chapter of the Junior Classical League and is our school s Latin Honor Society Darlene Eddy is the president and Mr Cote the advisor ln addition to fostering a broadening of knowledge of a foreign language and culture members have carrted on a program of social activities DELTA SIGMA CHI Knowledge has not been the entire motive of the Honor Society this year The Society under the direction of Mrs Hazelton and with the assistance of Karen Krull pres has conducted the Community Chest and Red Cross Drives Members have acted as aides in the office The membership requirements in the society scholar ship service and leadership encourage development of character in pupils of LSC DRAMATICS CLUB This year the Dramatics Club has been under the direction of Mrs Hazelton with Marlene Frawley as president During their bi monthly meetings the members have learned and practiced the various phases of dramatics Acting and techniques application of makeup recording voices and history of drama and costumes have all been topics which have aided them in presenting such a program as the Christmas Tableux THE GREEN AND WHITE With the harmony and discord of the printing press the Green and White has been made ready for your enloyment Your bi monthly paper is compiled of school activities and student accomplishments gathered together by its efficient editor Antoinette Guzzetta and expertly supervised by Miss Hohenstein ANGOLASCOPE - The Angolascope is our treasure of the years. It is the written and photographed record of the many activities at Lake Shore Central. After a person graduates there is really very little to keep him in touch with his fellow classmates. Our aim has been to publish a yearbook through which he can visualize and recall his high school days. Miss Schultz is our advisor and Anna Wockasen our Editor. GIRLS CHORUS AND MIXED CHORUS - Here at Lake Shore Central we have two fine vocal groups - Girls Chorus and Mixed Chorus. Sharon McDonald is president of the Girls Chorus and Mrs. Peterson is the director. Chris Ross is president ot the Mixed Chorus and.. Mrs. Holtz the director. The Girls Chorus has presented such songs as: Carol ofthe Bells and lf I Loved You. The Mixed Chorus has prepared a variety of numbers including' Ringing of the Bells and Lady of Spain. Both of these groups have taken part in the Christmas Assembly Annual Music Contest and Spring Concert. BAND AND ORCHESTRA - The two other musical organizations are - the Band and the Orchestra directed by Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Holtz. Marcia Pulkowski is president of the Band and Mary Dale Cook is president of the Orchestra. During the year we find these groups playing for assemblies the Annual Music Contest and the Spring Concert. ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE - The Assembly Committee's main obiect this year has been to promote a more careful selection of all of the assembly programs. Each assembly is evaluated by certain points and, with Mrs. Hazelton as advisor, and Myra Newcomb as chairman, we hope to have improved the quality of our programs. SERVICE CLUB - The technical parts of all assemblies have been supervised by the Service Club. These boys, working with Mr. Duffy, the advisor, and Donald Andolino, the president, have also handled the audio-visual equipment and have been placed in charge of the stage. They have certainly performed an outstanding service for us. -38- , . ' - 1 1 .. I - 1 1 - 1 I . . .
