And so it is with personalities! We dedicate then this Angolascope to Mrs. Holtz, in this her twenty-fifth year of teach- ing service, with the realization that it has been through such efforts as hers that an harmonious atmosphere has become an integral part of our school life. Since Mrs. Holtz has become our music instructor, the orchestra, the glee club and, in recent years, the mixed chorus have been organized. From i933 through 1939, the orchestra, under her direction, and the band traveled to such localities as Syracuse, to enter the state music finals after having redonia. and with spring Fredonia t activities, she Gnd agreeable combination gfoduut on ,.,.. , , '. It is the written and photographed record of the many activities at Lake Shore Central. After a person graduates there is really very little to keep him in touch with his fellow classmates. Our aim has been to publish a yearbook through which he can visualize and recall his high school days. Miss Schultz is our advisor and Anna Wockasen our Editor. GIRLS CHORUS AND MIXED CHORUS - Here at Lake Shore Central we have two fine vocal groups - Girls Chorus and Mixed Chorus. Sharon McDonald is president of the Girls Chorus and Mrs. Peterson is the director. Chris Ross is president ot the Mixed Chorus and.. Mrs. Holtz the director. The Girls Chorus has presented such songs as: Carol ofthe Bells and lf I Loved You. The Mixed Chorus has prepared a variety of numbers including' Ringing of the Bells and Lady of Spain. Both of these groups have taken part in the Christmas Assembly Annual Music Contest and Spring Concert. BAND AND ORCHESTRA - The two other musical organizations are - the Band and the Orchestra directed by Mr. Peterson and Mrs. Holtz. Marcia Pulkowski is president of the Band and Mary Dale Cook is president of the Orchestra. During the year we find these groups playing for assemblies the Annual Music Contest and the Spring Concert. ASSEMBLY COMMITTEE - The Assembly Committee's main obiect this year has been to promote a more careful selection of all of the assembly programs. Each assembly is evaluated by certain points and, with Mrs. Hazelton as advisor, and Myra Newcomb as chairman, we hope to have improved the quality of our programs. SERVICE CLUB - The technical parts of all assemblies have been supervised by the Service Club. These boys, working with Mr. Duffy, the advisor, and Donald Andolino, the president, have also handled the audio-visual equipment and have been placed in charge of the stage. They have certainly performed an outstanding service for us. -38- , . ' - 1 1 .. I - 1 1 - 1 I . . . Under the new assistant coach, Mr. Kin, these players have proven themselves to be a group of scrappers even though they have faced much tougher opposition. These boys spend their Tuesday and Friday evenings on the basketball court while the spectators sit along the sidelines and make a variety of noises to express their feelings. Just as well-trained musicians can produce a melodious tone, so these boys, by their consistent victories, have displayed teamwork, coordination, perseverance and deter- mination. -54- The bowling team that represents Lake Shore Central School consists of a small group of interested boys, under the guidance of Mr, Waugh, who transports them to and from the alleys. These boys have shown great enthusiasm for the sport and have bowled against teams from Clarence, West Seneca, Amherst, Qrchard Parlc, and Hamburg, both away and at home. As an added attraction, the boys attended a play day at Clarence on March 8. First Row, Left to right: Raymond Newcomb, Anthony Chiavetta, Jack Tyler, John Downes, George Dimitroff.
