Departments Offered Forty-Three Units English During our four years of English the teachers have strived to develop in each of us an accuracy of self- expression. We were taught units in grammar and punctuation, writ- ing, and literature. These units have prepared 'us for communicat- ing effectively at college or work. This year the students were 'intro- duced to a new text, Enjoying English. Science By classroom discussion and laboratory experi- mentation students were en- lightened on the mysteries of science. As freshmen. students were offered gen- eral scienceg sophomores, biology. Classes of physics and chemistry were taught for juniors and seniors. Spanish During the two years of Spanish, emphasis was placed on the spoken and written language. Students not only learned about the language but also learn- ed about the people who speak this language.

Home Economics Students who are interested in careers in homemaking were offered four units in home eco- nomics. Other units were of- fered in sewing, housing, per- sonal development, health. safety, and social and family relationships . Mathematics The needs for more and better trained mathemati- cians were brought about by the technical advances in modern times. Courses in general math and senior math were offered for stu- dents whose formal educa- tion will terminate with high school graduation. For the college bound, al- gebra I and II, geometry, and advanced math were offered . 3' f y, Business Courses in typing, short hand, office practice, and bookkeeping were taught by our school to help train students for the business world. This year Typing II was made available for the students who had com- pleted a course in Typing I.
