Second place in the Region is nothing to be ashamed of. We set our sights high, to make the State Tournament, we just came up one game short. Arlington had a good team and they went to state and got 3rd place. They represented our re- gion well. Lynne Casper received all conference for the 2nd year in a rowand was also named to the Lake Preston Invitational All Tournament Team. Divers Make Waves at State Meet On the last race of the season The Lake Preston Girls team not only won, but they set a new state record doing it! The quartet of Tammy Scheidt, Dana Hous- er, Stacy Stewart and Tracy Stewart placed first in the 1600 meter relay with a time of 4:06.96 to claim the first state record ever by a Lake Preston track team. Stacy Stewart placed 1st and 2nd in the 100 and 200 meter dashes while sister Tracy captured 4th and 5th place in the 100 and 200 meter dashes. The Divers scored 34 points at the state meet to place 4th overall in the B division. Dana Houser qualified for the State Track Meet in the 400 meter dash, but she failed to make the finals. The 800 meter relay team also qualified for the State Meet but was disqualified during the prelims. The success at the state meet was an excellent way to finish a good year for the divers. There were many hard working tracksters that helped the Divers place high in several meets. Sophomore Teresa Anderson ran a tough 1600 meter run during the year and had an excellent chance at qualifying for the state meet until an injury prevented her from run- ning late in the year. The Diver Boys showed definite improvement over last years team with strong showings from juniors Todd French and Michael Anderson, sopho- more Brad Easland and eighth grader Wade Mobley. Top-Dana hugs Tracy after winning the 1600 meter relay. Middle- Dana, Tammy, Stacy and Tracy accept the 1st place trophy for the 1600 meter relay.
