Basketball Brian Carlson takes a “deep” breath before attempting a shot. “I should have been in ballet.” was the quote from David Jibben. The young Diver team had a rough season but they made many improve- ments as the year progressed. The Divers surprised many teams by playing tough for three quarters. But the inexperience would surface late in the game, prevent- ing the Divers from winning. The young Divers brought an exciting type of bas- ketball back to Lake Preston, surprising teams like Deubrook and Hamlin, who were lucky to leave Lake Preston with a win. Fan support was strong the entire year. Leaders for Coach Heupel’s team were Michael Anderson and Steve Hasche. Both Michael and Steve averaged 15.5 points and 8 rebounds per game. Leaders from the freethrow line were Kirk Zeeck, Michael Anderson and David Hovde, av- eraging 78%, 74% and 70% respectively. Individual awards went to Micheal An- derson as Most Valuable, Brian Carlson as Most Improved, Todd French as Most Inspirational and Kirk Zeeck as Most Promising. 16 Boys Basketball Back Row-Assistant Coach Klark Thompson, Michael Anderson, Todd French, Steven Hasche, Brian Carlson, Jay Hojer and Coach Brian Heupel Middle Back-Brad Easland, Kirk Zeeck.
