Faculty endeavors to increase students knowledge Transferring from South Dakota State University, Mr. Michael Schroeder graduated from Black Hills State College where he received his Bachelor of Science de- gree in education and science. He teaches general science, biology, chemistry and advanced lab science in this school system. He is involved in the athletic department as wrestling coach, and assistant football and track coach. Mr. Schroeder is also the sophomore advisor. He has taught at LPHS for three years. As head of the athletic department Mr. Henry Lenards coaches football, basketball, track, grade school basketball, and junior high track. Mr. Lenards teaches physical education, government, American history, V orld history and is junior class advisor. Receiving his Bachelors of Science degree he graduated from Northern State College. Mr. Lenards has taught three years at LPHS. As a member of the LPHS faculty, Mr. Tom Fritts is instructor of speech, English III and IV. He coaches de- bate and is also sophomore class ad- visor. Mr. Fritts received his Bachelor of Arts in speech and chem- istry at Huron College. This is his second year of teaching at LPHS. 5

Change in administration brings new ideas Mr. Gerald Andrews taught English in Aber- deen before becoming superintendent of LPHS. He received his Masters of Administration at Northern State College. This is his first year at Lake Preston. After graduating from SDSU and teaching for five years Mr. Gene Harstad earned his Masters in School of Administration at Nor- thern State College. This is Mr. Harstad's first year as princi- pal, He is also advisor to the NHS. Board of Education Left to right: Mr. Verle Pike, Clerk Mr. Arlyn Jensen Mr. Robert Hauck Jr., Vice Chairman Mrs. Wendell Nelson Mrs. James Kopperud Mr. Glen Green, Chairman Mrs. Florence Olson is the secretary to Superintendent Andrews. Florence has been the school's secretary for the past thir- teen years. 4

Home Economics I, II, III and general sci- ence are taught by Mrs. LaDonna Micko. Being advisor to the junior class, FHA, and cheerleaders, she is kept very busy. As a graduate of South Dakota State University Mrs. Micko has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. This is her first year of teaching at LPHS. Mr. Wilton Cade teaches Typing I and II, shorthand, bookkeeping, and business ma- chines in the LPHS system. He advises the freshmen class and the annual staff. Mr. Cade attended General Beadle, South Dakota State University, and San Jose College, California to receive his Bachelor of Sci- ence in education, economics, and manage- ment . Mr. Daniel Auch has attended Yankton Col- lege, the University of South Dakota, and received his degree from Southern State College. He has been the librarian at LPHS for two years. Along with teaching remedial reading, he is also the advisor of the junior class. Mr. Auch is doing graduate work at South Dakota State Uni- versity. The senior advisor and assistant basketball coach is Mr. Ray Boetel. He teaches Algebra I, II, geometry, and senior math. He graduated from the University of South Dakota and has a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. He has taught at Lake Preston two years. 6
