On Friday afternoon a parade was presented, led by the American Legion Color Guard and followed by the LPHS marching band plus numer- ous floats. Of these floats, the winners were as follows: the FFA float, most humorous; FHA float, most beautiful; and music float, most original. Friday evening, the Lake Preston Divers came face to face with the Arlington Cardinals in the climax of the homecoming activi- ties. The Divers were victorious by a score of 27-0. U2 Floats Add Color to Parade The beautifully decorated floats were the main attraction of the annual LPHS Blue and Bold Day parade. The student body was divided into ten groups, each of which worked on a float except the coronation committee. The nine floats were as follows: freshman class, sophomore class, junior class, senior class, declam, music, FHA, FFA, and NHS. Each group worked hard on their float during the week preceding the parade, because three of the floats were to be chosen for the awards of most beautiful, most original, and most humorous. The students selected Pop- ular Songs as the theme for the parade. These Boots are Made for V alking was the song used by the music float in capturing the most original award. The float was presented as a large boot stepping on a Cardinal player. BYE bye birdie A tumble-down outhouse provided the center of attraction on the FFA float, which took honors as most humorous. The popular song Wipe Out was the title of this float. The structure was decorated wilh appropriate sayings, such as Fasten Tour Seat Belts and This Side Up . The FHA float, judged most beautiful, carried out the theme with the song Bye Bye Birdie . A large red car- dinal was the point of interest on this float. The bird was completely under control by a Diver who had har- nessed it. 43 N H S The NHS sponsored an honor roll party as part of the year's activities. Left to right.
