The first highlight of the year was initiation; the girls wore longlegged underwear dyed green and on each foot wore a cake pan and five buckle overshoes. The boys wore gunny sack dresses and cookie cutters for earrings, and wore a high heel shoe and bed- room slippers and carried a half pail of sand. Mr. Madsen was our class adviser and Mrs. Nick Thomsen our class mother. Sharon Casper was candidate for Homecoming Queen. Norma Paulson moved away during the year. The highlight of the year was the all school picnic at Lake Kam- peska. Our Homecoming Queen candidate was Shirley Brown and her attendant was Larry Anderson. Blaine Tolzin and Allen Wienk went to Ar- lington to represent Preston in the commercial contest. Our class rings were received the later part of February. Our play “Antics of Andrew was presented with great success. Our banquet was held in April with “Anchors Aweigh as our theme. The All-Star-Trio played for our prom. Shirley Brown represented us at Girls State and Bill McNamara at Boys State. The year was drawn to a close by an all school picnic at Lake Kampeska. They pro- duced hydrogen sulphide, and made nitric acid. Rolland and Arnold have been perfecting the process of making hydrogen sulphide. Most of the school will say they succeeded. Look kind of sleepy, don’t they? These Freshmen are copperplating a key. They have discovered new facts about heat, light, and sound. The energy they have studied about has so far not been exhibited in the class. The afternoon football game was the Divers vs. the Arlington Cardinals. The day was brought to a successful close with the annual Homecoming Banquet, which was the first to be held in our new auditorium. The four superior contestants in the local contest went to the District contest which was held at Arlington, November 7.
