Thirty green freshles strolled Into the study hall of L.P.H.S. In the year of 1947-48. Green as we lookei, It didn't take long to adjust ourselves to the school life of Lake Preston High. Ml8s Leighton was chosen our class advisor and Mrs. K. Wilde as our class mother. Our first big experience was our Initiation. The girls were dressed In gunny saok dresses with an onion around their neck and five buckle overshoes. They had their hair In braids. The boys wore gunny saok dresses with green silk stockings and one overshoe and one high heel shoe. Their hair was done up In five curls, and their faces well-smeared with make-up. The hlgh-llghts of the year were when Dorene Boyd and Marvin Tolzln were chosen Homecoming King and Queen. Peggy Ryland and Gaelen strande were chosen Carnival candidates. We also had a hay-ride with a lunch eaton at Lake Whltewood. At the end of the year we were taken by the Sophomores to Lake Campbell for a picnic and skating. Thirty-one anxious sophomores came to school the following year. Four left us and four more Joined us. Mr. Melemseter was chosen our class advisor and Mrs, G. D, Jensen as our class mother. Darlene McIntosh was chosen our Homecoming Queen. Betty Kazmerzak and Ronal Holland were our carnival King and Queen candi- dates. The sophomores furnished all four cheerleaders that year. They were: Donna Lewlson, Ellen Galer, Helen Galer, and Betty Kazmerzak. Thus ended another year with a picnic at Lake Campbell. At roll-call the next year, thirty-one Juniors were present with four new pupils from Hetland, while three of our old classmates left us. This was the year that Hetland Joined L.P.H.S. Mrs. Sherman was chosen our class advisor and Mrs. Merle Pattee was chosen our class mother. We were quite busy our Jun- ior year selling lunches at games to raise money for the banquet. Our Home- coming Queen was Peggy Ryland. Our carnival King and Queen candidates were Dale Gulllckson and Beverly Haufle. We received our olass rings In March and decided they were the best that we had ever seen. The Junior play, The Red Headed Stepchild was presented In January and with great success. We put on the Junior-senior banquet with the theme of the Stork Club In New York City. Darlene McIntosh was toastmlstress. Our prom was held In our gym with Vie Fondy and Ills Colleglates furnishing the music. Beverly McLain went to Girls State and Dale Gulllckson attended Boys State. We went to Lake Kampeska for our picnic. As the mighty seniors came back to school, there were only twenty-seven left. Mr. Melemseter was chosen our class advisor and Mrs. G. D. Jensen was chosen our class mother. Our candidates for carnival king and queen were Helen Galer and Lowell Wilde. Our Homecoming Marshall and Queen were Ellen Galer and Arlyn Jensen. Perhaps you have noticed we had the honor of having the Home- coming Queen all four years In L.P.H.S. Betty Kazmerzak was chosea our D.A.R. representative from our school. We had other highlights also as our senior pheasant feed, served by our mothers, publishing the annual, presenting the play, ana the unforgettable skip day. Our motto, Climb though tne rocks be rugged will help us on our way out of the halls of L.P.H.S. after four enjoyable years. eniou Clan cCfiitoiu
