enlor Class Hlsfory That September morning finally came when 31 little Kindergarteners skapped up the walk of the Lake Park School Miss Lund was waiting at the door The children enrolled were Mary Kay Blair, Judith Denker, Geraldine Graff, Judith Ihnen, Marlene Lenz, Julie McClure, Brenda McKenna, Marlys Ringler, Janell Rodenberg, Linda Smith, Sunny Jo Thorn, Robert Ahrenstroff, Byron Bahl, Byron Breffle, Marshall Christensen, Phillip Dice, Richard Hale, Ronnie Ihnen, Ronald Kuehl, James McFarland, Dennis McGarr Bernell Mertens, Clayton Peterson, Bob Reimers Keith Rodenberg, Lonn Rodenberg, Gary Schuett, Larry Tjoland, Larry Jaycox, and Dennis Stoltenberg We best remember our Kindergarten days because of thestories Miss Lund read to us, the recesses and the naps Miss Jones was our first grade teacher Here we found waiting for us Janice Lee Hiney, Doss Ellsworth, and Larry Hargan Just two people left us, they were the McKenna tw1ns This year we found that we had added the three R's to our studies After Christmas vacation we found it difficult to call Miss Jones 'Mrs Krebs ' As we advanced to the second grade, Mrs Wiechman became our teacher Marlene Lenz, Dennis McGarr, and Dennis Stoltenberg stayed back to help the first grade teacher but we found many to replace them They were, Deborah Wallace, Patricia Kelly, Kathryn Piper, Art Brons, Glen Jones, and Dean Adams Ronald Ihnen moved away durlng this year Our second grade year will always be remembered by all of us, because of the doll house, post office, grocery store, puppet and Indian plays Miss Wilson was waiting to greet us as we entered grade three This year we started and finished with the same enrollment As we marched up the stairs to enroll in the fourth grade, we found Miss Larsen as our teacher With Chuck DeBoer and Dorthy Christensen as new classmates to replace Bernell Mertens and Ronald Kuehl Patricia Kelly and Judith Denker moved away later in the year The h1ghlight of the year was social studies which was a new subject to us In the fifth grade we found Mrs Rush and Melvin Garloff waiting patiently at the door During the first semester Mrs Rush quit teaching to rear her own children and Mrs Nighswonger came to our rescue Larry Tjoland moved away and Shelia Naber moved in Judy Denker also moved back to good old Lake Park Mrs Nighswonger must have thought fifth grade too easy because she went on 1nto high school to teach. Mrs. Mahannah from Spirit Lake finished the year with us. Miss Peterson was our sixth grade teacher. Barbara Dagel came te us from California. This year we were very proud to have our own newspaper which sold for 2g per copy. At the end of the year we went on a skating party with the money which we had received. We also put on a number of pla Y At last the big day arrived when we entered junior high. When roll call was taken we found that Larry Jaycox had stayed in sixth grade while Geraldine Graff and Dorothy Christensen had moved away. We gained Joel Snow. It was difficult to get used to so many teachers, eight to be exact. Initiation was the first highlight and we enjoyed junior high skating parties and basketball throughout the year. In our eighth grade year, we moved to the seats by the window, but we found the eighth grade much the same as the seventh. We dropped Geography and added home economics for the girls and shop for the boys. In the middle of the year Gary Schuett decided to try another school. Larry and Marvin Mumm came to Lake Park from Odessa, Minnesota. This year we enjoyed basketball games, skating parties, dancing lessons, and planning for graduation. The next year we marched up the many flights of stairs to take our places in the high school assembly. We found Glen Jones was no longer with us. Later in the year Melvin Garloff also decided to leave us. The seniors wanted to make sure we got started on the right foot, this was accomplished by initiation. Most of this year was spent getting used to high school and entering into extra ciricular activities. S Uf ' p Q3 I Q 2- Q Q! ZZQNH ,.1 x - I O O 9 Y O O I O . O O O O , A O O O O . O O O O I .
