n0 Of the many people associated with us, the students of Lake Jackson Junior High, either directly or indirectly, there could be none who deserves or to whom we wish to give more honor and apprecia- tion than to you, Mrs. Georgia Walley. For five years you have been our teacher of American history, but not stopping there you have spent many hours as sponsor of the Panther's Paw and many more on special projects and helping us, your students. However, it is not only for your service that we have chosen you, but also for the example which you set for us all, an example of courage, courage of thought and action, of kindness even when that kindness is not deserved, and of an enthusiasm which enables you to undertake so many and varied proiects. It is for these reasons and the many personal reasons known to each of us that we dedicate The Panther - 1960 - to you, MRS. WALLEY, our teacher, counselor, leader, and friend. TABLE of CONTENTS Special 5e - Junior High Paw ty and EIementa ry Facuty tanA Chases Orgamz ations ancl ActIVIties PersonalitIes Sports agult h IT has been an honor to serve as yoor Superintendent of Schools this year. Among your accomplishments I hope you have learned the value of an education, because the survival of our form of government depends on an educated public. As Thomas Jefferson stated upon his retirement from The presidency in 1816, If a nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization it expects what never was and never will be . . . L. S. RICHARDSON The person who prepares will get the most from life. To acquire knowledge and put it to proper use can be one of the most satisfying experiences of a good life. In school we have the opportunity to acquire knowledge, make friends, serve others and receive the satisfaction of having done our best. I am sure the production of this fine yearbook must be a source of much satisfaction to the staff. We appreciate your many hours of hard work, and we shall cherish the memories of this school year which you have recorded for us. G. B. RASCO Principal Our assistant principal is the man be- hind the morale of our school. By prais- ing us, by defending us, and correcting us when we are wrong, he has won the respect of our student body. He always does his job in a capable and efficient manner. PAUL J. TODD BA. and M.Ed. Another loss to the classroom teacher list, but a gain in the administrative de- partment, for since Mr. Caperton has accepted duties as part time principal of the elementary grades fairness and co- operation are his shining trademarks. The students know he will meet them more than halfway with their problems. JAMES C. CAPERTON 8.5. and M.Ed. SHIRLEY BALUSEK Secretary JANIE CARROLL Secretary ALEDA MAE COLLERAIN Librarian B.S.
