Only educated people can truly enjoy the fruits of democracy; in fact, democracy can only survive through an educated people. The future of America - and of every person living in it - hinges on the attitudes and the know bow of you boys and girls. You have made a fine beginning on your educa- tion and now some of you will be going on to senior high While other will still have a year or two in junior high. My wish for all of you is that you always keep your goal in sight, make it one of which you can be proud, and be willing to work hard for it. Donlt settle for less than the best. TERRELL W. OGG Congratulations to those who have worked so diligently in publishing out 1953 school annual. The result of your work is not only a pleasure to use now but will grow in sentimental value through- out the years. I have been 'proud of our school this year because of the spirit and attitude of the students toward their work. Lasting progress for the individual must come from within, and it is my hope that all of our students will determine to get the most from their school that they possibly can. We live in a wonderful country where opportu- nities abound for those who are alert, energetic and honest. It is my hope that our students will take full advantage of the opportunities which are com- mon only to citizens of our great Nation. G. B. RASCO Principal G. B. She is very active in sports, a valuable soprano in choir and shows true promise as a future homemaker. Best luck always, Willene. MILTON SANDERS He is known to most of us as Bubba and will always be remembered as one of our outstanding stu- dents. He was tri-captain of our football team, and is holding for the second time the honor for Best All Round boy of his class. With his crisp brown hair, flashing eyes, and sudden smile, anyone would immediately tpre him as their favorite All American Boy. Luck an happiness always, Bubba! MARTHA 10 LOWERY A vivacious brunette who promises to be a real beauty. She entered our school last year and became a favorite at once. We predict that she will remain so. She is a member of the choir and served as president of her class. JOHN BRIDGES He's the lad you'd call tall, dark and handsome. John was one of the three Eighth Grade lettermen in football, and was on the starting lineup. He played exciting moments in the A basketball games, although baseball is his favorite sport. This athlete sings in the choir and is active in church and youth activities. We think that you are tops! John. LYNDA THOMPSON She is one of the most popular girls of the seventh grade. She did a swell job in cheerleading this past season, and is active in sports. She sings in the choir and wears one of the most captivating smiles that weive seen. We love you Lynda! BILLY ED WALTERS He could be called Lake Jacksonis own Herb Slariner; his dry humor and sparkling ersonality makes him one of our most popular stu ents. He makes good grades and is a promising athlete. He is a member of the choir and represents his class in the Student Council.
