Each year the Lake Howell Choral Department is involved in numerous activities which greatly publicize the name of our school throughout the state of Florida. Among these events are the University of Central Florida and Stetson University Honor Choirs. Each of these choirs are comprised of a select number of students throughout the state who show outstanding singing ability. Several students are chosen each year from the Lake Howell Choral Department according to their singing talents and knowledge of theory to represent Lake Howell in the All-State Choir, composed also of outstanding students from other high schools in the state. ln addition, the Concert Choir performs each year in the an- nual Disneyworld Candlelight Ceremony at Christmas. This is a breath taking and highly professional performance. The Girl's Chorus, Men's Ensemble and Concert Choir com- pete yearly in district contest and often achieve superiors and go on to state contest in Tallahassee or Gainsville. Many of the choir students get involved in solo and ensemble district contest and earn their way to state contest as well. Among other activities in which the choirs participate are the annual Winter and Spring concerts in which they host a variety of musical entertainment dealing with certain themes. Another annual production is the Red Stocking Revue, the main fund raiser, which is a delightful talent show. The choirs also perform in public for different community events. ln thepast they have performed at the Altamonte Mall, Seminole Community College, various churches, and other laces. p Lake Howell choirs are definitely a place to make new friends and get involved and prove to be a lot of fun for those who en- joy singing. ees Q ? it X a,..
