oe Ge ee ie ALLEN COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY Volume IV | Published by The AURA Staff ‘Lake High School Millbury, Ohio I964 Editor: Peggy Stagner Advisor: Mrs. Dora Shaw Foreword A school year consists of many doings All which lead to part of schooling. We have clubs and sports to amuse When school subjects tend to confuse. There are students who have problems There are teachers to help solve them. There are many a problem and many a laugh Among a hard-working group called the Aura Staff. — The job of these members is to sum up in a book Things at which students would like to look— Doings of clubs and sports of the year, And other things that bring happiness and cheer. In school you have friends both good and bad, Those who make you happy-those who make vou sad. We have taken these friends and grouped them together In a book of memories to cherish forever. Senior High Student Council Lake Senior High Student Council is the democratic government of the Lake student body. Annual elections are held and repre- sentatives are chosen from homerooms, classes, and the school-at-large. The primary job of the Student Council is to act as a sounding board for student body ideas and interests. The council has continued to regulate fund-raising activities of school sponsored organizations. The group has also taken charge of the activity board in front of the school and has purchased a record library for dances. Student Council sponsored a dance to raise money for the March of Dimes. The Student Council inaugurated the C. T. Falls Award. The recipient is to be judged on leadership, character, and scholarship. In this age of speed, the world keeps getting smaller and smaller. It becomes increasingly necessary for students to know the language, customs and history of other nations. Our youth in this modern age must be better informed. regarding current events and happenings. Through the two years of Latin and two years of Spanish offered at Lake, the students learn foreign languages. In the English, speech and composition classes, our youth learn to express them- selves properly. Government, history and economic courses prepare the stu- dents for better citizenship. The band was invited to attend the New York World’s Fair in August and staged an all-out campaign to raise $10,000. for the trip. To raise this money, the band sponsored concerts, dances, suppers, a hootenanny, a food tent at the Wood County Fair, and various other functions. Band Director Richard Washeck required each member of the band to go to solo or ensemble competition where each received beneficial constructive criticisms. It is hoped that this individual improvement will aid the band in overall performance. During the football season the band entertained at half- time at all home games and at a number of away games. The Dixieland Band provided entertainment at various community functions and played at basketball games to help school spirit. Senior Choir Ist row: Mr. Rideout, E. Stack, C. Wheeler, M. Caswell, H.
