It is here where we came everyday to receive our education and to get the start necessary in establishing a place for our- selves in the world. The theme running through this book is to remind us of the time we spent getting our education, our daily experiences, our daily dramas, and our activities here at Lake. May this scLolastic prepartion make us more fit to take our place in the world of tomorrow and to help us make bigger and better film successes in the future.

THEQTER HISTURH Lake Township was first organized as an independent township in 1844. Before this, it was a part of Perrysburg and Troy Townships. From 1844 on, rapid development began. ln 1849, two school districts were formed, this changed to eight in 1876. And then to ten in 1900. Thirteen teachers were employed to teach the ten schools. But soon the residents of Lake Township were considering the centralization of tlese ten schools. Action was taken, and, in 1908, a new building was constructed. This building is now known to all as the Grange ball. From 1909, when the school opened, to the present time, four superintendents have been in charge. They, and the years they served are as follows: Arthur Swartz, 1909 to 19153 Wilbur Bashore, 1915 to 19193 E. B. Graham, 1919 to 1924 and C. T. Falls, 1924 to the present time. Lake, in 1911, was recognized by the State Department of Ed- ucation as a high school of the second grade because at that time there were only three classes in high school. However, in 1915, the other class was added, making Lake a first grade high school. This accounts for the fact that there was no graduating class in 1915. As the enrollment increased, a larger school was needed to take care of the students. This building was constructed as near to the center of the township as possible, and was ready for occupancy in 1922. Two portables were also found to be necessary in a few years. The first was constructed in 1928 and the second in 1951. In 1954, Millbury wished to become consolidated with our school. This issue was voted upon and passed. Through the years Lake has gained much recognition in the county and through this has become one of the ooutstanding schools. So far, the graduating classes have totalled 585. The present enrollment in the high school Cincluding the seventh and eighth gradel is 511, in the first six grades 549, and in Millbury 85. A teaching staff of twenty-four are employed.
