Not pictured is Herman Ekern, Freshman Frolics Football The freshman football squad, coached by Mr. Joseph Walton, saw a great season and turned up a 5-Z record. The frosh started off the season dismally by losing to Barrington 18-6. However, they were much improved in their next game and beat a strong Waukegan eleven. They followed this triumph with four consecutive wins over Zion Z1-0, Liber- tyville Z0-6, Woodstock 19-6, and Wauke- gan again 31-0. In their final game they lost a heartbreaker to Zion 7-6. Those receiving numerals were: Pat Reilly, George Ekdahl, Jerry Shellabar- ger, Jerry Baldwin, Toby Johnson, Tom Garrey, Jim Faunt, Wally Trezise, Skip Swan, John Nelson, Steve Nisbet, Ken Jackson, Maurice Baker, Denny Fitz- gerald, Stewart Griffeth, John Scholz, Dick Banz, Herman Ekern, Charles Koop- mann and Kenny Kueter. Basketball An eight win season with only four losses gave the freshman basketball team something to boast about. After beating Warren 30-16, Palatine 31-9 and Liber- tyville 30-23, they suffered their first defeat at the hands of Ela-Vernon 36-37. They recovered from this setback by winning three in a row -- Zion Z5-20, Warren 45-36 and Grayslake 81-12. To break their winning streak, Ela-Vernon again stopped the team 33-29. They fin- ished the season by beating Grayslake 59-2.9, Palatine 48-30, and losing to Lib- ertyville Z7-Z5 and Zion Z9-25. Boys receiving numerals were: George Ekdahl, Herman Ekern, Dick Banz, Pat Reilly, Jerry Shellabarger, Ron Johnson, Tom Garrey, Jim Faunt, Wally Trezise, Skip Swan, John Nelson, Steve Nisbet and Phil Schneider.
