Activities In the fall. jane Byrne tpicture IJ spoke to a Convocation audience that was Cl enthralled Cl sleeping U stunned lj intrigued Il dead. She described how D dangerous Il luxurious U wild and crazy Cl invigorating it was living in the Cabrini Green Housing Project. When asked to comment about the presidential election she Il burst into tears CI laughed hysterically lil declined to comment Cl announced her write-in candidacy. Of all the Convocation speakers who came to L.F.C. jane Byrne was the most U electrifying Cl dignified Cl stimulating Cl scandalous El likely to be Geraldine Ferraro's 1988 running mate. This lovely bunch fpicture 23 materialized Halloween weekend on campus. This terrifying trio donned masks to hide their true identities and posed as U The Three Muskateers Cl Snap, Crackle and Pop U The Three Stooges Cl Huey, Louie and Dewey Q Carson, Pirie and Scott. At the many parties that weekend, they were Cl tarred and feathered Il applauded D booed Cl ignored lj bounced. They may not have won any prizes for being most beautiful but they could have won for most lj hideous lj sexy Cl ghastly Cl sophisticated lj inhuman. The Activities Fair fpicture 31 gave organizations a chance to recruit lj innocent D foolish CI hyperactive E unsu pecting E homesick Freshmen tojoin their groups. A wide variety of groups were represented, including lj The National Organization for the Preservation of jane Fonda E Trivial Pursuit Players Anonymous lj The Lake Forest Society for the Prevention ofCruelty to Centipedes U The National Dishonor Society. They attempted to entice prospec- tive members by telling them how U prestigious Cl degrading Cl mind-boggling lj fulfilling belonging to their groups could be. The Activities Fair served its purpose well as organizations gained many lj new fl perplexed El interested Cl eager members. Intramural sports are enjoyed by a great many L.F.C. students. IM Football Cpicture -lj is only one ofthe many IM sports including lj deep-sea diving lj volleyball lj synchronized swimming Cl mountain climbing Cljuggling. The champions, instead of being awarded the traditional t-shirts or trophies this year, were given Cl free passes to Szabo Cl a lifetime subscription to The Stentor U an unlimited supply of Gatorade Cl first aid. IM's supplied much needed exercise to many students whose only other physical exertion was E going to the bathroom lj pushing the elevator button in Young Hall E raiding the refrigerator E checking their mailboxes for cookies from home lj getting up to change the T.V. station. Broadway music made its way to L.F.C. as part ofthe annual Cabaret Cpicture 55. Lisa Brauston, a member ofthe Chorus, performed a memorable rendition oflil Row Row Row Your Boat Cl Twinkle Twinkle Little Star lj The theme song from Gilligan's Island Cl All That jazz lj One-hundred Bottles of Beer on the Wall. The entire chorus belted out On Broadwayn U a capello Cl Standing on their heads lj in drag U while skydiving Il with laryngitis. The show was E spectacular lj adequate Cl scintillating lj phantasmagoric and could have even entertained lj Attila the Hun lj Wild E. Coyote Cl Scrooge U your great-Aunt Bertha. During Homecoming, L.F.C. welcomedjay Leno Qpicture 61,11 well-known lj used car salesman I3 fishpacker Cl nuclear physicist Cl priest lj comedian. He cracked up the audience by ridiculing lj Business III English Literature Cl Art E History lj Philosophy lil Political Science majors. The underlying theme of his routine was III sex Cl college life Cl sex Cl television lj sex. He inquired as to what kind of pets students keep on campus and was stunned to hear that III ferrets lj Orca the killer whale El giraffes lj Bo the incredible trick hamster D tarantulas livefsl in the dorms.
