I dreamed that I was walking along the beach with the Lord, and across the sky flashed scenes of my life. For each scene I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand. One belonged to me. the other to the Lord. When the last scene of my life flashed before us, I looked at the footprints in the sand. I noticed, that many times along the path of my life. there was only one set of footprints. I noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in my life. This really bothered me and I questioned the Lord about it. Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you, you would walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most troublesome times in my life, there is only one set of footprints. I don't understand, why in the times when I needed you most, you would leave me. The Lord replied. my precious, precious child, I love you and I would never, never leave you during the times of trials and suffering. When you see only one set of footprints. it was then I carried you. Author unknown Monica Leiva LJQPI5 ' , K ,.,Z'fx4 ff 'L' L4 ' ssrli i' ' Mami, Papi, Abuelita y tios. And saw at a glance what I needed: There were others who passed me or met me each day, But never a one of them heeded, Perhaps you were thinking of other folks more. Or chance simply seemed to decree it: I know there were many such chances before, But the others - well, they didn't see it, You said just the thing that I wished you would say. And you made me believe that you meant itg I held up my head in the old gallant way, And resolved you should never repeat it. There are times when encouragement means such a lot. And a word is enough to convey itz There were others who could have, as easy as not - But, just the same, they didn't say it. There may have been someone who could have done more To help me along, though I doubt it. What I needed was cheering. and always before They had let me plod onward without it. You helped to refashion the dream of my heart, And made me turn eagerly to itg There were others who might have II question that partl - But, after all, they didn't do it! Was that when I found myself under the spell of the jazz ? No sooner had Gordon mentioned that staff members were needed . . . you guessed it. folks, that naive freshman was lured into a four year commission with I.FC's finest armed force -the Fighting Forester yearbook staff. I swore after one year that working with the Forester was not up my alley. The jazz had me in its grip, though . , . the pressure and deadlines . . . the neurotic, zany atmosphere . . . the challenge . . . Igetting my name in print . . . adding an activity to my resumel all appealed to my sense of mission. So after four years, here I am, expected to wrap up the year in print fin a thousand words or less, typed and double-spaced if you pleasel. As in the past 3 years, this, the 1984 yearbook, has undergone some revisions from its predecessors. Outstanding among them is the cover -in Yale Blue - chosen by Dianne and I to throw off guard any senior hoping to own a matched set of cream and red Foresters. And if you think the Yale Blue is outrageous, wait 'til next year . . . Our staff also changed the dial on the radio we have hooked up in our office. Instead of WXLC, we now listen to WYAWN lof course, we listen to these stations only if WIVIXIVI can't be tuned inll. Dianne and I had a few additions to our small but loyal following -including Bo, Sigmund, and Mr. Ralph. Dianne has hired a typewriter-valet of sorts. as well. one Rob B. Beats lugging a typewriter from Blackstone to Nollen! Say, Di, how about budgeting for a permanent typewriter for the office . . . better yet, how about a word processor? And a phone - a brown one! I added some new tunes to my memory bank, including Rob's version of Think of Laura. the staff's rendition of the Constitution Rock, and Di and the train switch of fate. So things have changed over the past three years for the Forester and its staff alike. Evolution, Revolution, Creation, Imagination, but staff members still must crop pictures. Here at the Forester we capture the hysteria for you in the pictures, just so you can sit back and laugh 30 years from now. I know I will!
