FOOTBALL The 1980 football team finished their season with a 4-3-1 record, which earned the Foresters a third place finish in the MCAC conference. Captains Ed Pluchar, Pete Magrini, and Phil Lombardo led the young squad, which included thirty- one freshmen on the roster. Quarterback Frank Melch led a passing offense that was unstoppable. The defense, which was second in the conference, was sparked by defensive tackle Jon Wynn. The Foresters came together and defeated Carleton College during Homecoming, then finished the rest of the season without a loss. The foundation for a cham- pionship team has been lead by Head Coach Mike Dau, and his coaching staff, which included the addition of Mickey Ewing tdefensive linebacker coachj this year. All in all, next year should prove to be exciting as the young team returns to play ball with a season's experience under their belts. The next day, the school bopped to the tunes of Dr. Bop and the Headliners, following two Beatles films. Finally, we sat back and tried to make sense of the Vietnam War era with the film 'The War at Home , followed by a frank discussion by Lake Forest alumni of the Sixties. While many of us were too young to remember that turbulent era, hopefully we got some idea from the many events we enjoyed. 106 ill Al gl 5 4 NZ! Dx I V ' 'wg 'I 0 0 M 'f' ,4 1. We dress our days in silken robes. The money comes, the money goes We light our lamps for atmosphere, f And hang our hopes on chandeliers. 4 We're going wrong, were gaining weight. - We're sleeping long and far too late. , And so it's time to change our ways But I've loved these days. Now as we indulge in things refined. We hide our hearts from harder times. A string of pearls, a foreign car Oh, we can only go so far , on caviar and Cabernet. We drown our doubts in dry champagne And soothe our souls with fine cocaine I don't know why I even care We get so high and get nowhere. We'l have to change our jaded ways But I've loved these days. Willi says he is bummed out that its all over because he wont have anything to do tomorrow. Denise realizes that this book may DE the last thing that she can give her fellow Foresters This book, as an experience, has been very rewarding, il not a real trial ol one s oatlence if not their sanity. But in the end, it has been worthwhile When so lew D6Opl9 on this campus ever get to tell the community how important they are to them. it is nice to have an outlet for such feelings it is too bad that our generation is marred, by a lack of true emotion It is hard to Kell just one person how much they mean to you. even when you have known them for four years. Maybe that is the purpose ol a yearbook or the reason for working on one So here it is, the 1981 Forester. You may not look at this for a year or maybe you won't look at it lor fifty years, but whenever you look at it may you remember the time that you spent at Lake Forest College. and the people who cared. After all, without people. Irie wouldnt be worth living. To you, from us, we give you the LFC yearbook, and may you enjoy it forever. are peupjz some fire-t ' M53 A' . rf VV ,' :gif y 4-3j'?4-QI' - .A - 1. . - ua 1 A T V V., . .
