Panhellenic RULERS OF THE GREEK Although the freshman Women Were very Welcome on campus, they received a 'lcold shoulder from upperclass women. The Panhellenic Council had put closed rush in effect as soon as upperclassmen returned to campus. But, Oh, the parties! Party settings ranged from barroom scenes to oriental gardens . . . attire varied from jeans to little girl dresses . . . refreshments began with foaming root beer and ended with the most cerernonious tea service . . , entertainment included skits by actives and serenades by fraternity brothers. Then, the bids were picked up and sorority and dorm living settled down to normal. Once pledge classes were organized Iunior Panhellenic representatives were chosen to discuss functions in which they take part as pledges, Senior Pan- hellenic evaluated the rushing period it had just supervised and set about to draw up rules and regulations for Courtesy Week. At this rush party, with a barroom scene and informal atmosphere, future Chi Q pledges were entertained. ln October the new pledges were honored at the pledge dinner-dance at Citros. ln February painting the Lake Bluff Qrphanage was the Courtesy Day project.
