MARY KOPENHAVER Doctor Mary Kopenhaver became Instructor in Biology at Lake Forest College in nineteen-hundred and thirty-tive. Miss Kopenhaver received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Hood College, the Master of Arts degree from Northwestern University, and last Iune received the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the same institution. Doctor Kopenhaver spent the summer of nineteenfhundred and twenty- nine in study at the Marine Biological Laboratory, Wood's Hole, Massa- chusetts. I-Ier completed research work has consisted of collaboration on an article, The Differential Distribution ol Water in the Tissues Along the Long Axis of Allolobophora caliginosusq Anatomical Record, vol. 54, and a paper, Water Absorbing Properties of Oligochaete Tissues, presented before the American Society of Zoologists at Atlantic City, December twenty-ninth, nineteen-hundred and thirty-six. Doctor Kopenhaver is a member of Sigma Delta Epsilon, Sigma Xi, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. VICTOR GRAHAM DAVEY Mr, Victor Graham Davey is Instructor in Romance Languages. Mr, Davey has received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Bard College, Columbia University, and the Master of Arts degree from Northwestern University. His Masters' thesis was on Symmetry Between Character and Milieu in Zola. He has done additional graduate study at Chicago Uni- versity, Harvard University, Northwestern University, and the Sorbonne, oi the University ot Paris. He has completed his work for the Doctor of Philosophy degree except for his Dissertation and examinations. Mr. Davey's present research includes The Problem oi Style in Stendhal, Romantic Elements in Zola, The Authorship of Celestina from Internal Evidence, and his Doctor's Dissertation on Dramatizations of Balzaas Novels. Mr. Davey is planning a trip to France this summer to do research for his Dissertation, Before coming to Lake Forest College in nineteen-hundred and twentye eight, Mr, Davey was an Assistant Instructor at Northwestern University. 13 LOUIS ORTON PALMER Mr, Louis Orton Palmer is Director of Music. Mr. Palmer received the Bachelor of Arts degree from Lake Forest College. Having been a pupil of Leo Sowerby, Mr, Palmer is skilled in the mechanics oi music, and is a composer as well as an interpreter ot music, He has studied voice under Cora Edwards of the American Conservatory in Chicago. He became a member of the faculty of Lake Forest College in nineteen-hundred and thirty-six. Mr. Palmer sings in the Saint Iames Episcopal Choir ot Chicago, and was one of the founders of Pi Alpha Chi, the honorary musical society on campus.
