He has made dramatics and stage craft, both as courses of study and as extra-curricular ac- tivities, sources of valuable training and pleasure. To be a member of the Garrick Club is an honor and goal coveted by everyone interested in acting. The little theater movement has taken America by storm as the only salvation for the legiti- mate stage. The Durand Little Theater of Lake Forest College under the direction of the Garrick Club serves its purpose on the North Shore to bring good plays at a low cost to the lovers of real drama. This year through the joint donations of the classes of l933 and 1935 and the College funds a beautiful new red velour curtain was install- ed in the Henry C. Durand Auditorium. The +l Garriclc season was opened October 23 and 24 by the presentation of Oscar Wilde's costume play The Importance of Being Ernest. Growing Pains by Aurania Rou- verol was chosen for the Freshman pro- duction and was given December 4 and 5. Maxwell Andersons Pulitzer Prize winning play Both Your Houses was staged March 4 and 5. Mr. Tomlinson revived the Garrick success of several years ago Ladies of The fury by Ballard and it was presented by an experienced cast the l5 and lb of April. Mr. Tomlinson has been assisted this year by Dorothea Gottlieb Miller, and Frederick Gottlieb has ably filled the difficult position of stage manager. The officers of the Gar- rick Club are Richard Widmark, president: William Penrod, vice-president: and Hazel Fisher, secretary.
