Education, though not without cost, is truly a great adventure. It has been said, the more you know, the more you find there is to know.N Would it not be a disaster to stop an adventure that can be so useful to all of us throughout our lives. Imagine the adventure possible in science, ec- onomics, farming, foreign affairs, en- gineering and architecture. Raymond D. First of all they put on their class play, Char1ies Aunt. It took a great deal of work but was well worth it. Extra curricular activ- ities play an important part in the life of the Juniors. Participating h1FHH.A., F.F.A., G. A. A., band, chorus and sports. In the spring came our Junior-Senior Banquet. Also with much preparation and excitement. I'm sure we will all agree that our Junior year has been an extremely exciting one. We of the Sophomore class are proud to announce that this is our first year in Sen- ior High School. we have many active mem- bers in such extra-cirricular activities as F.H.A., F.F.A., G.A.A. and sports. Also new- ly formed this year was our Sophomore trio and sextette. The Sophomore Pow-Wow and the class parties will go down in our diary as being loads of fun. We can say as a whole that this Sophomore year will long be remembered, but we are looking forward with great excitement to becoming Jun- iors. Z0 Finding themselves at that important crossroad be- tween Junior High and Senior High, the poppy Frosh have had an exciting year. Having been allowed in some of the Senior High activ- ities such as: F.H.A., G.A.A., and F.F.A., they are beginning to feel Just a little more ugrown-up. They have also participated in Junior High band, chorus and athletics. And of course, there were our class parties! They can hardly wait until they can be Sophomores, and can take part in all high school activ- ities, The eighth graders were happy to greet their old friends in a new school this year. we lost a few of our last years students, but gained a Qouple this year. We have some very active students in sports, band, chorus and many other activ- ities. We will strive to promote more school spirit in this year and years ahead. Future Homemakers of America F.H.A., being one of the most active organizations in school, got off to a good start this year by twenty- nine members attending the District VIII F.H.A. convention at Hills, Minnesota on October 16. One of our big activities is Daddy- we all brought our meeting, and showed Date Night, when fathers to a F.H.A. them just what F.H.A. is all about and proved we could have fun too. Other activities were filling Christmas bas- kets for shut-ins, setting up a booth at the State Fair, selling UNESCO stamps, filling Red Cross chests and contribut- ing to the March of Dimes. Spring is a busy time for F.H.A. when we attend the state meeting and have our Mother-Daughter style show and tea. We are equally proud of Jm ette Johnson, who is state parlimentarian this year. As everyone in F.H.A. agrees, it is a worthwhile and purposeful organiza- tion. It prepares us to be better and happier Future Homemakers of America. First row: G. Thomas, D. Rogers, B. Ebbeson, B. This year the G.A.A. has taken over the activities of the PSP Club by sponsoring the cheerleaders, and providing programs for the pep fests. Probably their biggest event of the year was the Sadie Hawkins dance which found the girls doing a switch- eroo and chasing down the boys. Some of their out of town activ- ities were a nPlay Dayn at Mankato State, a splash party at Mankato High, and trip to the bowling alleys in Man- katoo There were basketball, volleyball and deck tennis tournaments held dur- ing the noon hour. The band of L.C.H.S. is one of the busiest organizations in school, Over summer vacation the band went to Jackson to participate in the Legion parade. The Legion provided a dinner which was just great. Barb Nokes, Carol Meixell, LaRae Lyon, and Gweneth Jones were given the opportunity to attend band camp over the summer vacation at Bemidji. They obtained this honor by attending the most band preformances and putting in the most practice hours outside of band. we opened the '5h and 355 school year by playing for the dedication of the new high school. We also partic- ipated in Mankato State Teachers Col- lege homecoming parade and also in a mass band group which played for the game at half time. We also put on a spring concert and participated in district and state music contests, There are many points to bring out about our new band room, but to sum it all up, it sure is swell. We find them participating in the Christmas program and in our annual spring concert. Usually they learn marches, some swing num- bers, and school songs to play for our lasr home basketball game. In the spring, we find each band member doing his best to play and march correctly so he may be the lucky one to get promoted into first band. 40 3 QSYMMQL Agway 1 if . ff-1 gg AAS W W if .
