Grades seven and eight had their trials, it's true, Instead of green Freshmen, our class was blue! Over what? you ask, to us it's clear, Around that time the banquet was near. We hate to think it so soon will be done. Mr. Nelson, our principal, has the nickname Nels , On his list of worldly assets, education tops all else. Friendly as sunshine, and busy with work? This annual is dedicated to Miss Kent, as you know, With appreciation, devotion, and thanks as we go. Upon Mr. Harmeyer we have been able to depend, For help on the annual to the very end. The other teachers are too many to name, You know them anyhow, so the difference is the same. And now to pause and think awhile-- To try to cause a grin or smile. Our class members? Well, here we go-- If you haven't met them, get ready for the blow! The ladder of life was placed before us to climb in 193-bl, when our mothers brought us to the Lake Crystal School for the first time. We found our first grade teacher to be Miss Alvord. To start this climb up the school ladder was: Marilyn Arnold, Mary Lou Austin, Robert Busby, Dean Childs, Orlin Church, Freddie Davis, Ralph Etherington, Dennis Graham, Pegg Hanson, Jo Amm Hudson, John James, Merle Jenkins, Marlene Lewis, Darlene Martin, Keith Meixell, Louella Mielke, Betty Roberts, Eva Roberts, Linda Roberts, William Schobert, Eloise Smith, and David Swedberg, We seemed to enjoy swinging and sliding on the slippery slide. Our second year helper was Miss Olive Toft. She is had stumbled in the first grade, and Orlin Church, cided to climb elsewhere. Darlene Sandstrom, berg could see we were having fun, so they decided to mb, only Curtis Foss left us. Miss Alexander carefully guided our way Geraldine May, and Burton Sorgatz, joined us re the only ones who looked for a new place to hat Betty and Eva had their only quarrel--over Mrs. Swemppe was our fourth grade guide. year, and we lost none of our fellow climbers. Margaret Woolson was the only new-comer this By this time we reached our fifth year we were getting to be a little more careful, only, Merlyn Swedberg and Harold Warner stumbled and fell. James Tenny, Janice Lamb, and Mary Lou Dauk were our new-comers. Under the able and guiding hand of Miss Jones we gathered fur- ther knowledge. Miss Williams looked after us in our sixth year. It was at this time we really learned how to outline. QDid you ever learn how to outline? Well, we did DMarcille Jensen and Donald Lewis joined us this year. It seems that Don fell asleep in history the first day and has been known as Sleepy ever since. Hurrah! We are now on the second section of the ladder, the Junior High Section. Those who joined us that year were: JoAnn Owens, Mickey Davis, and Dick Zimmerman, Merle Jenkins was the only one to leave us. Mr. Madson was our home room teacher that year. Remember the hard time we had trying to find the different classrooms the first few days. The eighth grade year was guided by the able and understanding, Mr. Gordon Harmeyer. Rita Heiderscheid, Loren Prange, Wayne Broderson, and Gerald Rice decided to Join us that year. Someone, it seems, always gots tired of climbing, and Inez Warner did just that. It was this year that Busby learned to run around the room and was persuaded to run elsewhere. Mr. Harmeyer thought he could understand us, so he guided us through our ever import- ant Freshman year. We aquired quite a few new-comers this year, a few of them were: Delores Larson, Dorothy Dallman, Marcella Heiser, Jim Warner, Ronald Laingen, John Pugh, Harland Thomas, Jack Stiles, and John Williams. We lea.rned how to sell magazines that year, if we didn't learn anything else, we beat the Seniors. We are now ready for the last section of our ladder, the Senior High Section. Miss Ibb- erson was our advisor during our Sophomore year. We lost quite a few of our classmates on account of consolidation. Some of them were: Dick Zixmnermen, Norma Frizvold, Gerald Rice, Delores Larson, Alice Larson, Dorothy Dallman, Marcella Heiser, John Pugh, Jim Warner. This was the year we got our chance at the Freshman, we iniated them. CLot's of fun wasn't itl Our Junior year found us wondering can we make the climb . Mr. Branstad was our loyal advisor this year.We enjoyed our class play, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, even is nobody else did. We also entertained the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet at Eibners in New Ulm. At the end of this year we lost only David Swedberg, Keith Meixell, and Leon Martin. We are now at the top of our long ladder of our school life, our Senior year. Coming back to LCHS for the last time, we again find Mr. Madsen as our class advisor. Our worries, there are many, our troubles, are there a.nyTTh1s year found us absent on many occassions, some were our Skip Days, Class trips, etc. --John James, Betty Roberts, and JoAnn Hudson. 24 Y, S MN A ..- K 2 ..'3uv .f-,. k,.,.9 ,JL A'N'Y-X. Wewapagbm The Press Club is an organization made up of high school students in grades lO, ll, and l2. Our advisors this year have been Miss Luck on proof-reading and Miss Kent on the publishing line. We owe the success of our paper to these faithful workers. The purpose of the Press Club this year has been to publish news pertaining to high school interests. We have tried new ideas this year to better our publication. Some have turned out to the best and the others will be worked out at a later time. More work goes into the pub- lication than is realized. It's always work to meet the deadline but ask anyone in Press Club and you'll hear it's fun too. 40 Seated: R. Hanson, D. Pendergast, A. The year 1952 was a good one for the Lakers, they came through with four wins and five loss- es. Coaching the team was Ernest Madsen assisted by Vernon Berglund. The Lakers placed Captain John James, Dean Childs, and Don Lewis on the Middle Six All-Con- ference team. Seniors that saw their last season of high school football were John James, Dean Childs, Don Lewis, Ralph Etherington, Dennis Mikkelson, Donald Luiken, Lennis Hughes, Homer Jar- vis, Robert Busby, and John Williams. Everyone will agree that the Madelia game was the most exciting with the score tied until the last few seconds. Good going fellows, that's one we'll never forget! l952 FOOTBALL SCORES L.C. Opp. L.C.
