Senior Class Histnr The Class of 1950 began its high school career with a total of seventy-three members. That year we chose Robert Johnston, James Pierce and Shar- on Sharkey as our officers. Marian Patterson was chosen by the Pep Club as cheer leader from this class. That year we wisely chose two sponsors to guide us, Coach Noel Jones and Mrs. Frederickson. Jack Kunath, Joe Lamberty, Leona Rentschler, Doris Fritz, Margaret Gardner, Joyce Renfro, Har- lan Stout, and Ann Poulson left us this year, while Ferman Stout and Betty Ann Ort joined us at the beginning of the second semester. We started our sophomore year with an enroll- ment of sixty-seven. We chose Annette Howe, William Bernau and Robert McCaulley as our officers. Dorothy Walters was chosen as F.F.A. Harvest Festival Queen for 1947. Sixteen mem- bers of our class were chosen as servers for the Junior-Senior Prom. Our sponsors were Mr. Strong and Mrs. Heath. This year we lost Norman Potts, Junior Beckman, Gerald Redenius, Junior Smith, Ferman Stout, Marvel Hudson, Margery Kelly, Marian Patterson, Morgan Brinker, LaVon Porth, and Betty Ann Ort. Richard Alexander joined us at the first of the year. The next year proved to be one of the busiest of our high school career. The first big event that occurred was our magazine sales to finance our Junior-Senior Prom. We set our goal at a thousand dollars, and successfully went over the top. Our high salesmen, who were presented with gifts were Joan Hendricks and George Anderson. A Date With Judy , our class play, under the direction of Miss Bernice Wilcke, was a money making success. Our enrollment at the beginning of the year was sixty-two, but during this term we lost Delores Fischer, Burnadette Hamilton, Norma Seymour, Betty Lou Tubbs, Dale Madden, and Irma Tanne- hill, while gaining Jerold Ott, Jerry Murphy, Marvin Jones, and Clyde Bates. One of our girls, Marlene Lasher, was elected cheer leader from our class to fill the vacancy. Our officers for this year were: president, William Bernau, vice-president, Bill Dettmanng secretary-treasurer, Marlene Lash- er, and sponsors: Mrs. Rosendahl and Mr. Will. We chose the red rose as our class flower, maroon and gray as our class colors, and In Ourselves Our Future Lies as our motto. A very colorful theme for the prom was chosen entitled Mardi Gras . We entertained the class of 1949 at a banquet and prom featuring the music of Ding Ellis. In May the senior class invited us to a May Morning Breakfast. It was a token of farewell to them, and reminded us that one day we too would follow in their footsteps. -15- Our senior year was started with an enrollment of fifty-six members, but we lost Marilyn John- ston, Boyd Hucka, Betty Miller, and Clyde Bates. We again elected William Bernau as our president. Our vice-president and student council member was Robert McCaulley. James Pierce was elected secretary-treasurer and student council member at large. Mrs. Johnson and Mr. Laughrige were our able sponsors. We chose green and white as our class colors and the white carnation as our flower. Our motto, We have crossed the bay, the ocean lies before us , was chosen with sincere meaning as our last year was rapidly passing. Already thoughts of graduation were continually coming up, and we chose Mr. Bandy, a local photographer, to take our pictures. Homecoming meant a great deal to us this year, as it was our last. Marlene Lasher was chosen Homecoming Queen and Phyllis Burley, Patricia Barkmeier, Dorothy Walters, and Virginia Seay were her four attendants. Our class received first prize in both display and skitg so we knew our efforts to make our last Homecoming while in school a success were not futile. Both our boys and girls have brought many honors to us in all our four years in high school, by achievements in music, athletics, dramatics, and journalism. We are really proud of each one of them. Boyd Hucka and Burl Olmstead were the co-captains on our splendid football team this year. The F.F.A. Harvest Festival, which was held in the fall, was a tremendous success, and one of our members, Barbara Brownell, was an attendant in the Queen's court. Plans are now being made for our class play, Through flat' Kvyl'ole . Also, we will soon be thinking about the May Morning Breakfast which we shall sponsor for the juniors. One of the most important undertakings to us is the production of this annual which' will, in later days, be our memory book of our last year to- gether. Before too long Commencement Exercises will be here and that will be the final curtain of our high school days. In our four years in L.C.H.S. we have had lots of fun, participated in many high school activities, and made many friends which we know we are going to miss in the years to come.
