Front How: Edwin Squires, Bernard O'Br1en, Donald Allen, Gene Rosendahl, Lyle Sharkey, Coach Noel Jones. Basketball The basketball boys of 1944-1945 lived up to their name, 'The Eaglesn. The first team, which consisted of Edwin Squires and Bud Sharkey as zuarda, Gene Rosendahl and Bernard O'Br1en as forwards, and Donald Allen as center won fourteen games and lost th1rtecn.The boys fought hard for the two consolation trophies which they re- ceived, one from the Coon Valley Conference, and the other from the County Tournament.

. - -,.,.. 'f 1 Football 4 The 1944 football season started out with 5 lettermen from year before'and a number of inexperienced men. Although the s son was not very successful, the team showed very fine sportsma ship, and a number of the players will be back to start the sez off next year. The first game of the season showed up as the outstanding ga for-the boys. They fought hard'and played tire game. rhe final score against a hard was ended in a 6-6 tie. The boys had a tough schedule and tried It.seems as if they could never get going, out on the losing end. They tried to make brilliant ball the 4 fighting Manson tear to make the best of for they always came a comeback againstt old rival, Rockwell City, at the Homecoming game, but Rockwell beat them 19'Oe f In the last game of the.season the boys strove vainly to wir game, but the game was played on a muddy field and the score sl ned to 7-0 favor fer the strong Rolfe team A At the first of the season in a practice game Eddie Squires ceived a broken collar bone and was unable to play regularly wi the squad for the rest-of the year. Later on in the season Rot allen, substitute, received a broken collar bone, also. All tk the season there were a number of injuries, which weakened the ceneiderablyg and accounted for an unsuccessful season. Fred Hucka was chosenPAll Twin Lake's Conference Guard from H. S. team.
