Fobos Prine Emma C, Johnson Presidents: Burge Hammond and Marvin Molitor Viceepresidentz Arlene Campbell Secretary: Jo Ann Johnston A' Treasurer: Dwight Johnson Class Colors: Blue and Gold ' Class Mottos A W0ne step at a time, but always forwards Class Flowera American Beauty Rose On a bright, sunny day in September in the year 1941, a crew of fifty-four members boarded the good ship West View High, weighed anchor, and set sail on the course that would, in four years, bring unto their hands high school diplomaso This crew, elected LeRoy Galdwell to be itls president and Mr, Richard Snyder, sponsoro During this first year seven members of the,crew abandoned the good shipo Among these were Le Roy Caldwell and James Patterson, both of whom Joined the Navyo The second year of the course fifty-four members embarkedo Ronald Anderson was elected as-president of theiclass with Miss Wink and Mrs Nelson as sponsorsa During this part of the voyage Clara Kutz and Wallace Bryant joined the crew, We again lost a few of our original crew-'this time six, Again our president, Ronald Anderson, was among those dropped, and he also joined the Navyo 'Dio Sharkey deserted ua for the Navyo Mildred McGrady also left the cla Q When the ship embarked on the third year of its course, it had: crew of fortyefouro Arliss Fifield, a new member of the class, was elected president, with Miss Andereuiand Mr, Awtry as sponsors, ' During this year the class had a spirited magazine saleo Near the middle of the year a class play, Lady of Letters, was producediwgth great successo The close of the year Brought the annual Junior , 2 Senior Prom sponsored by the Juniorst' The compliment,was'retnrned h the Class of U44 with a May morning breakfast, During the voyage of the year Velta Stephens and Charles Lambert joined the crew, but Warren Bradley, Clarence McCaulley, and Kenneth Christensen dropped out to enter the Armed Services, before the voyage was oompletedo ' d th credits,fleft Robert Mighell and Charles Lambert, having amasse e high school to attend collegeo By the end of this year, Donald Squires had completed his full high school cdurseo After school closed he, Bill Picht, and Arliss Fifield all joined the Navy. After such an eventful voyage, the good ship setsail on the last year of itqs course carrying as the crew of thirty-eight mem- berso Burge Hammond was elected pres dent and Mrso Johnson and Mre Fobes, the class sponsors, It was decided that the class would publish the Whirlwind, The ticket sale for the benefit show was a great success, five hundred tickets being soldc At the end of the first semester the Class president, surge Hammond, enlisted in the Navy and Ferris Lasher the Army, Others to enter the Navy were Ruse eel Short and Warren Blanchfieldo Russell and Ferris have both come pleted their work in school, entitling them to diplomaso
