Besides providing entertainment at various social events,the vocal groups and soloists also participated in the preliminary state music contest heldat Hockwellfhty. Out of eleven entries, eight were given first division ratings. They were: mixed chorus, girls' glee club, boys' glee club, girls' sextet, boys' quartet, Elaine Johnson--Contralto soloist, Gerald Green--baritone soloist, and Roland Cobb--bass soloist.
