Foreword ln all activities. periodic evaluation is essential if there is to he improvement and progress. Schools. no less than industries. must also take stock to determine whether they are meeting the needs of youth in an ever-changing society. Every ten years each school that is a member of the Southern Association of Secondary Schools and Colleges participates in an extensive process of self-evaluation, after which a visiting committee of the asociation reviews the find- ings of the school and makes a report which com- mends good procedures and recommends areas which can be improved. Because Lake Charles High School during this year has participated in this periodic examination, the Catalog staff, helieving that this was the most significant activity of the school year, selected Evalu- ation as the theme for the 1960 Catalog. The eight areas of the evaluation process furnish the eight division pages of the Catalog.
