Watson, and Dr, H. B. Hewett. Having served a total ot 44 years, the tive members of the Lake Charles City School Board have obviously devoted much of their ovvn time, vvithout pay, to attending to the problems ot the schools of Lake Charles. Dean ot the members in point ot time, Mrs. E. B. Watson has been a member ot this body for lo years. Second in number ot years is Mr. Frank Field, who has been on the board tor lA years. Dr. H. B. Hevvett is beginning his sixth year. Dr. J. Y. Garber and Mr. Mark Wentz have served tour years and are novv start- ing their second term in office. President ot the school board is Dr. J. Y. Garber, who was elected in January to succeed Mr. Frank Field. Under the administration ot these tive civic-minded persons, all of our elementary schools have been remodeled, a new elementary school vvas built, and an entirely nevv plant consisting ot tvvo beautiful classroom buildings and one ot the tinest gymnasiums ot the state have been built on our campus. A special class tor handicapped children has been put into operation, and classes tor speech correction have been established. Because ot vvide-spread expansion and improvement of our schools, it is evident that progress is the vvatchvvord ot our school board.
