The 1986 Looking Glass is Dedicated to : Mrs. Clara Marie Blackledge 1942 - 1983 This year's 1985-86 Looking Glass is dedicated to Mrs. Clara Marie Blackledge. Marie Blackledge was a member of the Laingsburg Community for 20 years. A mother of five children, Marie was a tireless worker for the system. She helped organize and was chairperson of the Citizens for Quality Education; an organization that replaced the P.T.O. for several years. During this period of time, she was chairperson of the school carnival for five years. Marie was elected to the Laingsburg Board of Education and served until her death in 1983.• During her terra on the board, she became deeply involved in the Title I Program for students in need of special help in reading and math. She organized and was chairperson of the parent advisory council for the Laingsburg Title I Program. Marie served as well as a member of the Board of Directors for Regional Title I Council. Marie was also active in other areas such as Cub Scouts, Band Boosters. Sports Boosters, Lions Club activities . the list goes on and on, and she's accomplished much for this school system as well. Mrs. Clara Marie Blackledge was an outstanding member of this community, and a tremendous help to the school system.
