Homecoming ii WflByths and Magic was the theme for Laingsburg's 1984 homecoming. The announcement of the- King and Queen candidates and their court at the pep assembly on September 28, 1984 started the magic flowing. Five King candidates and five Queen candidates were chosen by the Senior class. The court was composed of underclassmen, two boys and two girls from each class. Besides the excitement of Spirit week, homecoming was filled with heavy campaigning by the managers of the candidates. Campaigning started Monday, October 7, 1984. Signs decorated the halls of LHS, as peo- ple shouted for their favorite can- didate. Friday, October 12, 1984 was the final day of the festivities. Peo- ple walked around like billboards, wearing the variety of colorful but- tons. At 2:20 p.m., students assem- bled in the gym to hear the mana- ger's speeches. At 6:30 p.m. on Friday, the home- coming parade left the Middle School parking lot and made its way through downtown Laingsburg for all to see. The freshman float featured a witch using her magic to Stew the Shamrocks. Riding the float were court members Lisa Burt, Jami Shaw, Tim Bolles and Ken Hartig. The sophomores used the Myths and Magic theme into a protrayal of King Arthur's Sword and the Stone. Representing the 10th grade was Car- rie Buss, Lori Chrenka, Jimmy Shaw, and Greg Hutchings.

II he winning float was sponsored by the junior class and showed a Knight in wolf's clothing slaying the Shamrock dragon. The court rep- resentatives were Tricia Bradfield, Kris Draggoo, Joel Mires and James Muzzal 1. The Queen candidates all rode in T-top Corvettes. The homecoming victory was no myth as Laingsburg gained 296 yards rushing and 91 yards passing. Brenden Blankenship led the Wolfpack with 99 yards, Tom Castillo added 71 yards for the team and Andy Hamilton ran for 68 yards. Dan Beatty and Scott Shaw split 24 tackles and Dan Austin contributed 9. It was a to- tal team effort said Coach Bauqh- man. 3 The half time ceremonies were held on the football field. Kings and Queens from the past were invi- ted back by the student council. The candidates and the court assembled on the field for the announcing of the 1984 homecoming King and Queen. The crowning of King Ryan Hill and Queen Teresa Burt was performed by the 1983 King and Queen, Mark Robinson and Kim Arthur. Other can- didates were Kelley Rosenquist and Andy Hamilton, Tamara Lee and Tom Castillo, Missy Schieberl and Dan Beatty, Kim Payne and Scott Shaw. Following the game was the home- coming dance sponsored by the senior class. Breaking precedent this year the dance was casual, although many people still dressed formally. Mr. Baughman gave Ryan Hill the homecom- ing football.
