Dedication Reproduction of first high school built in 1884 This 1983-84 edition of the Looking Glass is dedicated to. . . the Laingsburg High School and all of the people who made it possible. The first hinh school on this site was erected 100 years ago, in 1834 at a cost of $5,000.00. With no water or plumbing, there was a little girl's room and a little boy's room on the opposite corners of the’ school's back lot. There were additions to the school and much later, in 1962, a brand new high school was started on the same site. The new building was ready for students in September of 1963 and has been ready fcr school every year since. After 100 years of growing and serving this community, it has become a very busy place in the course of the average school year. Besides the obvious academic features there are many sports, clubs, and activities happening throughout the year. From dances to student slave auctions there's never a lack of things to do. The class of 1987, this year's Freshman, will be this school's 100th graduating class. Laingsburg High School has been involved in much of this town's history and will be remembered by former students and town residents for its contributions to their daily lives. 2
