HOWARD MALITZ 1926-1979 Howard Malitz, former Superintendent of Laingsburg Schools for 5 years, died July, 1979. He was born on November 8, 1926 to Dr. and Mrs. Howard Malitz. He grew up in Dallas, Texas, and after finishing high school, served a term of service in the U.S. Navy. He then went on to Southern Methodist University where he received his B.A. Mr. Malitz then moved north and he received his M.A. at Michigan State University. During his stay in Michigan he met his wife, Julia Rogers Malitz, and they were wed on September 20. 1952. He decided to settle down in Michigan and was involved in the pharmaceutical business until he decided he would be much happier if he was involved in the field of work he really en- joyed, and that field was education. Mr. Malitz came to Laingsburg 12 years ago and he served as principal at the Elementary School and finally as Superinten- dent. Mr. Malitz really enjoyed working with young children and he headed the school systems Special Education Depart- ment. It was his love for working with young children that caused him to leave his post as Superintendent at Laingsburg. He took a job as principal at Ovid's North Elementary School where he served until his death. We dedicate this yearbook to him for his love and devotion to the education of young people.
