THE 1976 LAINGSBURG HIGH SCHOOL LOOKING GLASS is dedicated to LAURIE SUE VOISINET April 3, 1958—June 13, 1970 Laurie Sue Voisinet, daughter of Robert Voisinet and Marjorie Ferrigan, was a classmate of the 1976 grad- uating class. Laurie lived all her life in the Laingsburg area. She went to the Cedar Lake country school on St.Clair Road until coming to Laingsburg Elementary in the third grade. Laurie was active in Brownies, Girl Scouts, and played cornet in the fifth and sixth grade bands. She was loved by young and old alike and devoted much of her time to visiting the elderly. AUGUST 1975 FOREIGN EXCHANGE The L.H.S. Foreign Exchange Club left Laingsburg last week to spend a month of travel and study in West Germany. As the culmination of plans begun two years ago between L.H.S. and the Council on International Ed- ucational Exchange (a branch ol the American Association of Sec- ondary School Principals), our fourteen students and their club advisor, Mrs. Diana Herder, flew from Detroit via New York and Paris, to Frankfort, Germany. Their itinerary calls for one week of sightoeing with other American school students in and around Frankfort, Tubingen and Stuttgart in various old castles and monastories, and 3 weeks of study in their host school in a little medieval town called Steinatal uber Trcysa, in the Black Forest. Our students and Mrs. Herder will be staying in the private homes of students at their host school, and will attend regular classes with their new German friends. This com- ing school year Laingsburg high school and several local homes will return the hospitality shown our students, when we will have approximately fourteen German students from Steinatal uber Treys a visiting our school and community for one month. Our students earned the money for their trip through part-time jobs and fund-raising activities such as bake sales and drawings, and in preparation far the trip they all studied the German language and culture in a credit course taught by Mrs. Herder at the high school. Several ol them attended an evening course in conversational German a; well. Letters may be written to any of our students or Mrs. Herder in care of: Herr Karl - Jurgen Keil, ,3579 Neukirchen, Goethe- strasse 7. West Germany. Our students mil return on Aug. 28 on a flight via London and New York to Detroit.
