r v ' { Jim v •' m Throughout history young men have been called to the armed services to insure the continu- ance of the ideals of freedom upon which our country is founded. It is to these men we owe our gratitude for ensuring not only our opportunity for education but that of other classes here at Laingsburg. ACTIVITIE BAND The Laingsburg High School Band, under the direction of Gary Oberlin is enjoying another year of suc- cessful entertaining. They have entered in band competitions around the state and have brought top ratings back with them. This year, the band was given the honor of being one of five bands asked to perform at half time for the Lions Thanksgiving Day game. Not only was this an honor for the school but it was also a memorable event for the members of the band. Several members of the band attended a band camp near Pontiac. There, they gained much experience in both playing and marching. A similar trip is being planned for this summer. This four-page section on the Band is compliments of: THE MC DOUGALL FUNERAL HOME, 203 First North Street, Laingsburg, Michigan. ROW 1 - Advisor Snyder, S. Shull, D. Klockziem, H. Pierce, J. OFFICERS Our Council is steadily improving and is becoming more in- volved in both student government as well as student activities. This years members have been very active in League Council af- fairs. Recently, the League has been sponsoring exchange days be tween area school and we have participated in these. As well as the local activities in which the Council is en- gaged, they are still continuing to aid Nguyen thi Hue, their foster child in Viet Nam. In her letters she constantly sends her love and gratitude for the aid she receives. She tells the students that this assistance has enabled her as well as her family to enjoy more of the comforts of life. Recently all her letters and pic- KATHY BEEMAN - - - Treasurer tures were displayed in the entrance hall. NICK DeVAULT - Vice President MRS. The Queen’s Court consist- ing of Ruth Scott and Sue Fry (Class of ’70), Cathy Beeman and Diane Adams (Class of ’69), and Kathy DeVault and Rose Moorman (Class of '68) followed. The Queen Candidates, Janet Hawk, Cristie McDougall, Judy Miller and Kathy Churchill, were then introduced to the crowd. The King Candidates, all varsity football players were not available to participate in the festivities with the excep- tion of a brief interval at half-time. At half-time, Ken Brink who was entertaining a knee injury went to the dressing room to bring out Dave Carroll, Dan Jorae and Dennis Steere, the other candidates. At this point, the candidates didn't show much interest in anything other than the game. 45 46 47 EVENING IN MONTE CARLO The Continental effect was felt by all who attended the Junior-Senior Prom depict- ing scenes one might see in world-famous Monte Carlo. The decor was complete with slot machines, roulette table and dice. The Class of 1967 has always strived to be a lit- tle out-of-the-ordinary and perhaps this is one of the reasons that their Prom theme was so far removed from the expected. 46 SPORT 51 KEN BRINK RON BRADFIELD CRAIG BRADFIELD DAVE KLOCKZIEM JOE BRASKA DAN JORAE BOB LOUTH DAVE CARROLL ALLEN CHADWICK This page compliments of: H. POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL The Powderpuff Football game Detween the Junior and Senior classes is a new event for Laingsburg High School. The event was well received and greatly enjoyed by all present. The girls spent many hours of hard work but were rewarded by memories which will be cherished for years to come. The male members of both classes rallied forth and supported the girls whole-heartedly. As can be seen from the pictorial coverage, the girls put their ALL into playing the game which resulted in some injuries --both major and minor.
