LOOKING GLASS COMPILED AND EDITED BY THE CLASS OF 1957 OUR DEDICATION The Class of 1957 is proud and happy to dedicate the 1957 Looking Glass to Donald Fockler.our commerce teacher for the past five years. We feel that he has given much to our school, our class, and our pupils individually. His interest in all activ- ities and his willingness to aid in making them a success. He is a ready listener to our problems and a wise counselor in their solution. His good nature and humor make him a favorite among his pupils, both past and present. G. Alexander, President: Robert McDougall, Secretary; MISSING: Robert Tisch, Trustee. Our Board of Education consist of five members chosen by the voters of the district for terms of three years. Since the education of children of an area is of paramount interest to the community, the action of the Board of Education is always subject to close study and criticism. Truly a posi- tion on the board is a thankless task. A person who accepts one of the positions must be motivated by the highest characteristics of democratic citizenship, service to his community. The Class of 1957, salutes the members of our Board of Education for their unselfish efforts to provide an adequate education program for this area. During the present year considerable progress has been made. The science department has been improved by enlarging the room and adding laboratory facilities. Approximately one hundred volumes have been added to the library. A vocal music program now covers all grades from the first through the twelfth. All grades now received physical education, supervised by a qualified teacher. The combination of the Pierson, Aldrich, Sprague, Chant, and Giffels Districts with the Laingsburg District has been accomplished. The cooperation of all these districts well make possible the planning of an educational program for the area on a more adequate basis.
