I I I liiLT I g ! Nerdsll n Conij uf r A herd of nerds was found, sitting as for Qwoy OS possible from the populor peo- ple. Whet wos the occasion? It was, of course, Spirit Doy, 1967. The Freshmon doss of 1991 did much to prepare for their big doy. First of all, their mothers dressed them in closhing plolds, funky ties, ond whot no nerd would be seen without — his pocket protector. Next, according to Kirk Brown, At 5:30 we oil met at Coco ' s and hod breakfast, from there we got our pens, pencils and coicuiotors ready for another fun day at school. Surely the nerds ' mothers were delighted to drive the youngsters around. Although reiuaont to miss class, the Freshmen gathered at snack in the corner of the school midst signs pro- doimlng, We hove no friendsl Embor- rossed as they oil were, the nerds were forced to participate in o donee contest which was won by Mori no Oviedo. Next there wos o bob-for-oppie contest. To moke this more exciting, the apple was small and In o bucket of whipped cream. Eric Barnard was the winner of this. FInoliy, there was o nerd fashion show In which ten nerds were chosen to model their attire. The winners (o boy ond a girl) were seleaed by applause. Angela Mottluz was picked Queen Nerd and Kirk Brown earn- ed the title of King Nerd. Both recleved crowns which they wore proudly for the re- mainder of the day. To remember their special day, the nerds oil went home, typed the day ' s events on their computers, and stared their floppies in o very safe ploce. if: A pock of freshmen demonstrate their nerd spirit Delow Pefe Doedecket disploys this week ' s floppy disk drowing winner. ' ' 9 osers ' of ,he 5o once The sophomore doss of 1990 definitely revealed their spirit os they united during spirit week dressed os 50 ' s youths. Many wore cordigons, poodle skirts and old lertermon ' s jackets in on attempt to retrace the path of time once tracked by their parents. Included in the day ' s ac- tivities were bubble gum blowing contests, big wheel drag roces ond hoolo — hoop competitions. Denise Cochran ond Paul PquIqc displayed how low they could go , OS top contestants in limbo, while Jeremy Stone went undefeated in the hoolo — hoop contest. Laughter ond goiry depicted throughout the day the obvious enjoyment experienced by the sophomores. 50 ' s day was cool. The thing I enjoyed most was watching David Oh do the twist and seeing Brain Sloybock ottempt the limbo. -Aryn Mac Donald On October 26th these hedonistic sophomores dressed as 50 ' s teens, were successful in their efforts to convey the spirit and uni- ty that Homecoming week is oil about.
