wimmerfi jaLe flee punge The turn of the season brings spring sports participations and events to the spotlight. The sun is shining and it is time to take out those speedos and get back in shape for our summer bikinis! The Girls' J.V. and Varsity swimmers welcomed many new members to the team. This year's Girls' swim team had a brilliant success in their first year of being in the 2A league. Varsity members Deanne Wilson, Liz Hartzell and Susan Harding helped lead the team to vic- tory. Senior Reem Khalil said, this year we were able to work toward improving the strokes we were best at because we had so many new swimmers join the team. Long practice on form and stroke work as well as speed and coordination resulted in outstan- ding performances during the season. 218 J 5 yi as I is 1. as 4 gf F if tm W 52 ,K gf

Excellent swimming ability sup- ported by a well trained team, again proved the value of determination and hard work, essential to produce an honorable team. Because of their unusual efforts, several Hawk swimmers deserve special recogni- tion. Ken Meyers, a Senior, was the outstanding flyer, while Brian Fischer con- tinued the success he started last season in freestyle, going to CIF. Joe LaJoi also deserves honorable mention. Ken Meyers adds that, this year we were in a new league and had more opportunity to com- pete against schools of our size. Coach Fischer predicted another successful season next year with remaining members to lead the team such as Matt Maxon, Chad Chase, Mike Hinton and Eric Lawson. Good luck swimmers! 217
