Hawk wrestling is 34 of the toughest athletes on campus led by the most dedicated coaching staff we have. This team saw bad times last year, having a basically new varsity team and injured wrestlers. But determination, pride and the desire to pin brought us to where we are. Having taken first place in both the Bolsa Grande Varsity and Brea Invita- tional Varsity tournaments, this year's team knows how to win. Leading this year's Varsity team, Brian Lorentz, Tom Hayes, Ed Roberts, and Al Maglines are prime examples of what hard work, dedication, and good coaching can do for a team. To prove that this team is not solely dependent upon age, Tony 0h and Jon Sprague, both sophomores, have made outstanding contributions as regular starters. 204 Brian Lorentz is a menace to Trabuco Hills. The opposition has problems with Greg Powell. Sean Cariaga manuevers his opponent from the starting position. Victor Oviedo will do the old flip-a-roo to score another point for the Hawks. be ww , 4 ? One ofthe greatest advantages to being a wrestler is that it holds no bounds. Our weights range from feather light David Weber at 84Ibs. to big bad Jon Sprauge at 240Ibs. The weight divisions break up at 100, 107, 114,121,128,134,14O,147,156,167,177, 198, and heavyweight. On this team everyone wrestles. Tournaments are scheduled by Coach Jarmie to allow every member to the team active mat time. Right now we're at the top of the league and expect to stay there. I know I speak for all the members of our pro- gram when I say that wrestling is more than just a sport to us. We're a tightly knit group here, one that is willing to work hard and win. Not enough can be said about our coaches. Their enthusiasm and effort shows in the talent and strength of this team. It's easy to choose one word to describe our wrestlers, coaching, and administrators: WINNERS!
