Golden Achievement California Scholarship Federation is a scholastic club on campus that focuses up on higher education. Its members must meet the prerequisite of receiving at least 3 A's and one B in courses other than aiding and physical education and have no unsatisfactory citizenship grades. After every semester, it is necessary to reapply and those who have been in- volved with C.S.F. for four semesters will be seated in the first row at graduation. They will also receive a gold cord around their gowns at the graduation ceremonies, gold tassles on their caps, and gold seals on their diplomas. In addition, those students taking part in the club for a full six semesters will be awarded another certificate of the highest honors with a gold seal and life pin. The club offers many benefits. C.S.F. is a great advantage and provides the opportunity to graduate at the top of my class, said member Mykhanh Nguyen. With the elforts and the guidance of the advisors, Mr. Gunderson and Mrs. Lane, the club is active on campus as well as in the community. It has held candy-gram sales at Christmas and Easter. In May, the club holds an Academic Bowl, a tournament where the freshmen compete against the sophomores and the juniors compete against the seniors. The winners advance to challenge one another for the championship. In the community, C.S.F. sponsors an Adopt-A-Grandparent program in conjunction with Beverly Manor Convalescent Hospital in Laguna Hills. 5255, '77 Lfxx' 3 173

altq Oyflliqn French Club Have you ever seen students walking about campus with blue and white sweat- shirts saying, Les Faucons Francais on the back? If so, you have seen a French Club member. In the Constitution for the French Club, it states, The French Club will promote interest in the French language and culture by sponsoring countries, atten- ding French movies, inviting guest speakers, and having other activities that would encourage students to enhance their language skills and to increase their cultural awarness. The purpose at French Club meetings is to let students taking French further their interests in the language and to encourage other students with a desire to learn more about France to do so. L'Esprit Vivant, the French Club newsletter, premiered in December. Translated into English, the name means the spirit living. The newsletter comes out every two months containing articles, songs, and cultural facts. Advisors are Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Baker. German Club German has an interesting club with many fun activities. The main focus of the German Club is the great interest in the Germanic culture. The members especial- ly enjoy the food involved with Germany. The club is also very lucky to have Mrs. Alms as an advisor. She lived in Germany and contributes greatly to the society. They have regular meetings with German speakers and slides to help the members appreciate the culture. They took a trip to a German cafe and restaurant which was great fun. Approximately 1O'M: of the peo- ple also participate in the foreign language camp put on in the spring. The camp lasts for a weekend and is strictly German speaking. The people who have gone in the past have learned a lot and enjoyed it. To end the year the club becomes involved with the Apotheosis festival by donating cakes and tortes. In short, German has an active club with members that really enjoy themselves and have fun. If not already in the German Club it would be a good idea to join next year. Voulez-vous mangez avec moi ce soir? French Club members toast with Perrier. Joyeaux Noel, the French Club sings at the Faculty Christmas Party.
