Q? Sweet Charity Laguna Hills Key Club is a prominent and outstanding club on cam- pus. Involved in numerous community and school activities, the club is based on the dedication and commitment of the 40 members. The club meets every Monday during the lunch hour under the direction of the President, senior Meagan Hutcheson and advisors, Mrs. Englhard and Mr. Kruse. The meetings are run in an organized and orderly fashion with specific agendas presented to the club members. The students are given the opportunity to volunteer their time and par- ticipation in the upcoming activities, This year's Key Club is far superior to any previous year. The members are active and more involved than any ofthe clubs that I have sponsored, said the Youth Sponsor Chairman from the Kiwanis Club, Merle Trail. The activities the Key Club have participated in range from the Halloween Carnival, to the annual fund-raising car wash, to announcing Bingo at Palm Terrace, to Sees Candies sales, to Christmas caroling at Beverly Manor. The most successful service that the club organized was the Great American Smoke-Out on November 20. This was a day in which students adopted a smoker and supported him in his commitment to stop smoking. The annual Blood Drive, held on , December 3, was run by Key Club members who C i organized the Drive, summoned prospective donors age 17 and above, and aided the nursing staff, Towards Christmas vacation, Key Club members presented stockings to the homeroom classes to collect toys for under privileged children. Called Operation Santa, it generated enthusiasm and participation among the entire student body. Such gifts as teddy bears, skateboards and bicycles were donated. The club also participated in the Special Olympics and volunteered Library Service with Mrs. Kilby. The highlight of the club's year, however, is the Key Club Convention, held in spring. The club spends the weekend in Santa Clara where they present all their accomplishments for the entire school year in hopes of winning recogni- tion and awards. We have a great chance of ranking high among the various clubs. said Mr. Kruse, and the club members eagerly agreed. Kim Clinton, Angela Magill, and Tammy Alms are relieved that the blood drawing is over, as they enjoy cookies and punch. Katrina Heppler and Jenny Jech are cooling off as they wash h I th h.
