'7 . c Tfflrnfs-f -4' 'X . f A at r 2 .. Laguna High School's Band is an active and competitive group on campus. The drum major, Shannon Velarde, helps keep the band in step and assists the Director, Mr. Jones, in leading the band. The spirit and pride of the band has enabled them to receive many awards. Because we work together in practice as well as com- petition, we are able to win awards and recognition, said Carol Healy. Although there are no prerequisities to enter band, the students must have a general knowledge of music. Outside of class, the band members are involved in fund-raising projects such as candy sales and selling field show tickets. We owe our success to our sense of commitment and teamwork, says Keith Ludolph. The most spirited trip that the band will take is the trip in April to the Annual Band Festival. At the Festival, the band will combine with other schools to perform at Magic Mountain and enjoy the park after the concert. The 1986-87 Marching Band continues to perform and prepare for future competitions so that their success will grow. 163
