BACK ROW: Gary Huff, Dave Riggs, Mike McDaid, Greg Conradt, Mike Garcia, Ken ardy, Reed Ringler, Mike Anderson, Brian Jones. The 1981 82 Freshmen Basketball squad met the challenge of last year ' s Freshmen League Champions with a year highlighted by a 9-3 preleague mark, a 16- 6 season record, (the second highest win total in LHHS Frosh basketball history), a 7-3 league record in the extremely compe- titive South Coast League, and, most signif- icantly, a richly satisfying share of the 1981-82 League Championship. Leading the young Hawks to this milestone were Mike Garcia, Co-Captain and team MVP, Scott Shockey, Coach ' s Award recipient, and Greg Conradt, the Most Improved Player. Additional contributions to the team ' s achievements included Co-Captain Reed Ringler ' s leadership and timely scor- ing, Evan Cheatwood ' s hustle and consi- tency, and Ken Hardy and Mike McDaid ' s defense and rebounding. This year was one of challenge and accomplishment exempli- fied by the discipline, poise, and intelli- gence of the entire squad: the 1981-82 Freshmen League Champions. „ : f 111

With the coaching of Dave King, the team ended the season with a 14-6 record. These young Hawks put in many hours of hard work and sweat in preparation for a tough scheduled season. The team showed the spirit and talent for future possible champions for LHHS basket- ball. 110

They went through the entire pre-league losing only one game, and continued working hard to stay on the winning streak. Although the league play was not as profitable as pre-league, they had enjoyable season
