The preseason proved to be the highlight of the year as the team posted a 12-1 record an d was ranked fourth in the 2A Division of the C.I.F., and third in all of Orange County. This was the first time we have had a team ranked in either poll. They won the Garden Grove and Magnolia Tour- naments, and finished third in the Brea Tournament. The league season was a disappointment as the Hawks were the victims of two one-point losses, and two three- point losses. The team did defeat League Champion Capistrano Valley. Additional highlights were the victory over district rival El Toro, and two wins over cross-town foe, Mission Viejo. Playing major roles in the team ' s success were; Dan Blank, Robert Carter, Curt Cook, Todd Litfin, Brett Olivier, Tom Ramsey, and Todd Williams. The 15-8 record was a fine accomplishment and with three important players returning to go with some talented underclassmen, next year ' s team hopes to continue the winning tradition that the basketball program has established. 108

BACK ROW: Frank patafora, Duane Kronick, Eric Snyder, Gary Johnson, Steve Colburn, Darrin Miller, Coach Boyd. The 1981-82 JV Basketball squad provided another fine season, as they faced a very difficult league. Led by Coach Jim r3oyd and by Captain Kraig Kawada, the team showed finesse as they finished se- cond in the Garden Grove Tourna- ment. Expect to see many of these players next year on the Varsity squad. V — 109
