Let peace and silence spin your yarn What harm can befall thee in yon Wilderness of Clove. Go on east of ginger trees Go soft, and silent like the breeze With ease be off and wander in yon Wilderness of Clove. Go on past the goldenrods Where fools and angels lose their odds And gods of our ancestors Did immerse themselves in Clove. Go on toward the Crimson Shore Beyond this life of metaphors Where doors of understanding ' s house Decorates He them with Clove. Be Lions roaring in the forests of Knowledge, Whales swimming in the oceans of life. Prepare to meet Baha ' u ' llah in the Garden of Clove. ROBERT C. LAWSON, JR. ' You can ' t always get what you want. 84 85 TODAY I can ' t be contented with yesterday ' s glory, I can ' t live on promises, winter to spring, Todav is mv moment, and now is my story. I ' ll laugh and I ' ll cry and I ' ll sing. but wait. . . i don ' t understand. 86 SUSAN THOMAS FELDSTED but tomorrow may rain, so I ' ll follow the sun. P Qeep If a man does not keep pace with his companions, Perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears However measured or far away. Henry David Thoreau 87 God is first, My friends are second, And I AM THIRD. -Gale Sayers And most of all, I would like to thank my Supreme Being for allowing me to be alive, to be around. -Stevie Wonder at Grammy Awards Ceremony MICHAEL CHRISTOPHER SEXTON I know which way The wind is blowing But I still Have to follow My own course. 88 GERARDO AGUIAR 89 Far beyond where horizons stretch And lands slip into blueness Let me walk the road with you And dare myself. I will put a pebble in my shoe; And watch me walk, I can walk. I will name the pebble dare. We will be together Walking there. Dare shall be carried And when each has had enough, I will take the pebble from my shoe, Saying, meet your new road . . . Then i will take your hand in mine Finally glad That you are here by my side. ' Arise, Awake and Stop not till the Goal is Reached! ' MARINA LORIN ANDREWS 90 When you love somebody real much it makes your tummy feel good, and your arms feel good, and your cheeks feel good, but your nose hurts. Why? Because it gets all squashed. — Shannon When life gives you lemons, make lemonade! WHITNEY TINKER HEIMLICH 91 If it ' s sanity you ' re after, there ' s no recipe like laughter. -Modern Methods 92 JANIS ENGLISH REED 93 FRANK CATALANO ,- ■• ' My interest is in the future, because I ' m going to spend the rest of my life there. — C. Kettering 94 CHRISTINE BREGY Don ' t Quit Now When things go wrong as they sometimes will; When the road you ' re trudging seems all uphill, When the funds are low and the debts are high And you want to smile, but you have to sigh, When cares are pressing you down a bit — Rest if you must, but — don ' t you quit. Life is queer with its twists and turns, As everyone of us sometimes learns, And many a fellow turns about When he might have won had he stuck it out. Don ' t give up, though the pace seems slow — You may succeed with another blow. Often the goal is nearer than It seems to a faint and faltering man. Often the struggle has been given up When he might have captured the victor ' s cup: And he learned too late when the night came down, How close he was to the golden crown. Success is failure turned inside out — The silver tint of the clouds of doubt, And you never can tell how close your are, It may be near when it seems afar; So stick to the fight when you ' re hardest hit- It ' s when things seem worst that you mustn ' t quit. ' . 108 -jjSjSh- ■s Oh wow man, they said the food was gonna be better this year. The first Camp Laguna occurred two years past. Because of its GREAT success, and the terrific enthusiasm for a repeat of historic events, we had Camp Laguna 74. Some of these events included a hick square dance, capture the flag with flour sacks, rabbits vs. turtles in a track meet, and frequent indigestion from the food. All in all, however, Camp Laguna achieved its goals in promoting a closer student body, and enthusiasm for the upcoming year. 109 How burnt!
