CALIFORNIA LA HONDA 1973 LAGUNA BLANCA SCHOOL SANTA BARBARA, CALIFORNIA ' UPPER SCHOOL DEDICATION KENT FERGUSON We have chosen to dedicate this yearbook to the person whose faith, patience and guidance has contributed to the success of our class. His genuine concern for each indiv idual is reflected in the attitude of the students as a whole. He has channeled our energy into constructive efforts and has enabled us to become a produc- tive class. The unity with which we pride our- selves is largely due to his guidance. We are in- debted to this man and wish to express our grat- itude. We, the class of 1973, dedicate this LA HONDA to Mr. Ferguson. And the seasons they go round and round And the painted ponies go up and down We ' re captive on a carousel of time We can ' t return, we can only look Behind from where we ' ve come And go round and round and round In a circle game. - Joni Mitchell FACULTY JOHN H. FPVILLALBA m ?h. 27I65 I 1 As school began this year, a new building was put into use. It consists of a block of four class- rooms, several offices, a storeroom and rest- rooms. The new complex replaces the old buildings which contained the Shuman Room, Old Art Room, Terrace Room, Faculty and Senior Rooms. These old rooms had a lot of character and atmosphere, but posed a number o f prob- lems. The electric wiring was faulty, the heating no longer worked, several beams had cracked, and termites were eating homework papers. Before the buildings were demolished, students worked for several days salvaging roof tiles for use on the new building. Aside from saving a consider- able sum of money, the mixing of old, weathered tiles with new ones helped the new structure to harmonize with other buildings at school. Approximately where the Terrace Room once stood, a circular brick patio was constructed. At one side of this is the Lisa Merritt Memorial Fountain which was dedicated on September 17th. ' 21 THE BLAIR STERRETT SHUMAN HOUSE 22 23 24 25 CAMP LAGUNA On September 6 at 10:00 A.M., nearly everyone in grades 9-12 met in the school parking lot for the bus trip to Cachuma Camp. Camp La- guna was organized this year in an effort to get school off to a better start than ever. It was hoped that the two days at Camp Laguna would enable new students to get ac- quainted with the school, and re- unite old friends before the start of classes. Among the activities dur- ing the two days were a game of Capture-the-Flag using sacks of flour, wheelbarrow races, and chicken fights in the swimming pool. There was square dancing one evening. Camp Laguna was def- initely a success. 26 a — A. • ESmiI l. 27 M z , lw ' ' ' i - ' Sb p x. gj s M r ■ r U - JH Am s dl k r ' ' ' ' ' .: . ■. . 1 28 29 SWIM MEET •f. • if .- a ■ d 30 ■ Ui 31 MIDDLE SCHOOL LAPA LAPA PARTY 32 UPPER SCHOOL LA PA LA PA 33 FALL FESTIVAL 34 j HESHi ■ ■■ 36 k S« KKw L ' - 1 1 a ■ ■ %5 ' Y ■ I B I J ■ f - B 5 Kl lA.
