R . Q ...ad We had a very successrul football season this year. Our only loss was to Flushing. The Flushing game also cost us the loss of Ronald Calovini, for the rest of the season, who sustained a broken ankle. We also had one of the top scorers in the league in Richard Bizzarri with 103 points. Ronald Calovini followed with 54 points. Rich has played outstanding football for four years and we are sure to miss him next season. CHARLES MCGARY a 180 lb. senior, was a new- comer in football as of last year. Charley, we're sure was a great help to the team. JAMES GILLI a 160 lb. junior, played center again this season. Jim also holds the record as one of the best blockers in the district. JOHN YOBY a 115 lb. junior, although small is very fast and sly. John has pulled us through many tight games. RONALD CALOVINI a 160 lb. junior, has been very succesful in crossing the goal line. Unfortunately his playing was halted by a broken ankle in almost the last game of the season. JACK STEFANI a 170 lb. soph., and very good bloc- ker, has been a lot of help this season and he will al- so be of great service in the future. TOM HODER a 130 lb. junior, has rendered good services for the last few years. Luckily for us, Tom will CHARLES SMITH 125 lb., Junior, Position--Line. MITCHELL GILLAM a 125 lb. freshman, has been a great boost to the team. Mitch will be around for the next years to help a lot. Wmdu - RICHARD BIZZARRI - a senior and captain of the team. He has played forward on the varsity for four years. Rich will be a great loss to the team as he was one of the top point makers. CHARLES CALOVINI - a senior, and a new member to the varsity also plays forward. Charley's addition to the team has been a great help. JIM SHIPPY - a senior is captain of the re- serve team. Jim is very good to have around for a replacement on the varsity. ROBERT CALOVINI - a junior, has a little experience on varsity as he was one of the top seven last year. Bob has a lot of fight and will be back again next year. . RON CALOVINI - a junior, who started late in the season because of an injury comes in very handy when we need a replacement. JOHN YOBY - a junior, is our top ball hand- ler. John is known throughout the valley as a dribbling expert. TOM HODER - a junior, is a member of the reserve team and plays varsity when needed. RON ALEXANDER - a sophomore, also a good ball handler rounds out the first five. Ronnie has a few more years and will be very helpful. RESERVE TEAM Jackie Stefani ------ Sophomore---Forward Michell Gillam ----- -Freshman ---- Center Micheal Slatt ------ Junior ------ Guard Charles Smith '----- Junior ------ Guard Udell Cimini ----- Freshman ---- Forward Frank Springhetti- Freshman ---- Guard FREMO ROSS---a graduate of St. Clairsville, is a new addition to the Lafferty faculty and in the sports' picture. This is his first year as coach for both the basketball and the football teams. He succeeded Ernest Albanese, who was coach for 22 years. Last year 419539 the Lafferty basketball team had a very successful season and came through to win the County Tournament Championship. They lost out in the second game of the sectional tournament to Scio after trying, the much controversial, deep freeze, which is to be long remembered here at Laf- ferty High School. We lost three of our top players by grad- uation. They were Bill Azallion, Nick Gillam and Foo Zantelli, Rich Bizzarri and John Yoby are the boys remaining from the cham- pion varsity team.
